@namesii18803 жыл бұрын
I think the advantage of BeamNG is that it has the most advanced crash physics out of any game, so pretty much every racing game fan will most likely enjoy it just for that. Which in turn gives the devs a lot of time and budget to make the driving physics more and more realistic as time goes on. Where as if a purely sim racing game launched with Beam's more earlier driving physics it would not survive. So i'm really excited for the future of this game.

@ghoulsarefree3 жыл бұрын
@@ariton2990 It's definitely true that crashing is a part of driving and that increased fidelity in the damage model should translate to better simulation overall. And I don't see any way it could hurt. However, the point about "racing" is that when you're actually playing the game (against other players or time attack), a crash is pretty much the end of any race. Getting the damage effects right on a severe crash ends up not mattering insofar as racing is concerned. If the car drives super realistically after losing 2 wheels, that's a novelty, but racing after losing 2 wheels isn't worth the time (or realistic, for that matter). That's why the finer points of the damage model, like temperature and wear, are what sims typically put more effort into -- because you can actually race through those.

Now grab your run of the mill simulator. Let's say Assetto Corsa. - No engine temperature simulation; - No brake temperature simulation (let alone a brake fade simulation); - Stefano insisted that gyroscopic effects aren't important to vehicle simulations, since they weren't covered in his classic vehicle dynamics books, which is why AC lacks such effects that clearly effect vehicle behavior; - The suspension simulation is flawed, which is why Stefano had to do a global suspension softening of about 25%, otherwise their F1 cars (stiff) would explode 100m into the air; - No chassis simulation/deformation; - The tires are not separate independently simulated objects (they're not even separate objects physically speaking); - The aero simulation on AC is so poor that it completely stops working if you're in a 40-45 degree bank; - And many more flaws that affect quite a bit of so-called "simulators" out there. The only simulator that comes close to BeamNG, despite being a rigid-body simulator, is rFactor 2.

I tried several racing and rally simulators over the years,but i never adapted myself to any of them,it felt too artificial to me,something was always off..But on BeamNg i feel at home,that fear of hitting a ditch and blowing a tire,damaging the radiator or actually bending the frame of the car,not mentioning the risks of actuall mechanical failures give me motivation to actually focus and the feeling of accomplishment after surviving a long rally stage is something i never saw in any other racing simulators out there.

For some reason this reminded me of one mod map called "American Road", it has a challenge on it called the "impossible tour", it's a very long 80km time trial around one of the larger maps made for the game, which must be done without resetting. Any other game it'd probably be boring.

In a rally sim, making a mistake results in you watching your entire run ruined. In BeamNG, you watch your run get ruined, and your car.

lo my dude, if you think that the last car is brutal now, keep in mind that you can raise the boost to 30psi, raise rpm to 8500 and add 300kw of nitros, and the engine holds perfectly fine. Thats about 1400hp/nm.

You could probably cool down the engine by revving it in neutral, as the water pump is faster, and the engine doesn't produce too much heat. Always worked for my father on his Wartburg 353, until he blew the engine up.
