In regard to FauxClock: Since you're underclocking your CPU, you'd probably benefit from enabling the "Snake Charmer" option. This is because Qualcomm's Krait cores each use independent max frequencies, and snake charmer binds cores 1, 2, and 3 to the max clock frequency of core 0 (which is what you set with the sliders).

How can you forget the classic titanium backup?! Along with this, I use ES file explorer, SD Maid Pro, Ad away, Xposed framework with gravity box & boot manager on my nexus 5.

Instead of twrp which I tried last night to get the kitkat update on my galaxy s4 (infamous edition) twrp would put me in a soft brick mode I fixed this used the philz recovery just as touch friendly but with more success

I have RootExplorer purchased but I find that Root Browser has better aesthetics, and it easier to navigate in general. SetCPU is also a little more GUI friendly.

Bit late response, but definitely do not buy windows phone if you care about software freedom. Newest windows phones are really restricted, and rooting them sometimes is impossible or takes quite an effort. Can't wait to move to android, after using Nokia Lumia 800(Windows Mobile 7.5) for a while.

I think that all one click rooting-apps should install version 2.46 of SuperSU by default. That would help with any initial glitches that you might see after rooting. Of course, you should still manually accept any updates to the SU binary. I suggest that the developers of those one-click root tools should update their scripts for it

Don't mess with the voltage unless you know how to of without a proper cooler. That basically means don't mess with it because too much over voltage will literally fry your system and/or get crashes every minute or so. At least, that's how it works on PC.

I like CWM Superuser more: It's integrated into the settings in cyanogenmod, it's opensource and PIN lock is free. SuperSU has more features, but for me CWM superuser is enough.

Hey, I was just wondering do rooting your phone damage your hardware? I rooted my HtC desire hd 2-3 years back and then started changing roms everyday, and one day BANG, my phone mother board had a short circuit in it. Was it because or rooting? That's what I thought and never rooted my nexus, but now I have a micromax A1 (in warranty) should I root it??

Tanav S Arora i highly doubt it was beacuse you were rooting your phone and changing ROMs that caused the shrot circuit. most likely a faulty charging system in your old phone. Unless you were tweaking with the CPU frequency or some voltage related tweaking. So i think its fine fi you root your device. in my mind, i think it was just a faulty device.
