it seems like you've been around a little bit, and you more or less see the bigger picture, but you are hesitant to believe in just how corrupt the system really is, after being enlisted for several years, I have learned to accept that there is a certain amount of corruption in the world that is nearly impossible to overcome. the people at KZbin, are picking and choosing the winners and losers, this has nothing to do with skill set, content creation, or general appeal.somebody high on top, has choosing to promote other content creators other than you, that is all it comes down to plain and simple.it wasn't until you're finally going bankrupt, KZbin finally put you in my suggestion list. This is how scumbag corporations work.

I did FIRST FRC and some FTC, and from a rules and format standpoint I've had some ideas on how to make the idea more viable as a robot sport. Things like weight classes, safety requirements for cockpits(standardized for safety while allowing for other teams to solve issues on their own), and standardized ports for weapons, suggestions for exciting combat destruction with minimal impact on the actual mechanics. Not just big idea stuff either, as an ME and a Yuuuge mecha fan I've got some fairly detailed ideas. (all with the rather strict limitations of physics, money, and international arms laws in mind). Though I bet some or all of these may not be new, I'd really like to help. I really love what you guys have done. Honestly one of the most heartwrenching moments for me was seeing the Japanese mech unveiled and realizing that they had designed theirs for a totally different weight class than yours. If you'd like to go back and forth more on specifics I'd be glad to or send you a write up if you'd like.

As an engineer, I'd love to see videos about the design, prototype, and test process. Break down the control systems, hydraulics, software, strength of materials, and other science and engineering that went into the construction of Americas first, and as far as I know only, combat mechs. There's a lot of youtube channels that are HUGE that focus on the maker process, but very few ever built a highly articulate, hydraulic powered vehicle with interchangeable arms. Probably my favorite video from this channel was the one about how you're redesigning the arms to make them faster with a better range of motion.

As an intellectual with an interest in applied robotics and this industry in particular, this video was extremely fascinating. And while I’m not perhaps versed in the mechanical side of this (I’m a historian) the economy side explains SO much. It gives me perspective on the project and since you are back at the starting line or what’s left afterward, it gives me more perspective on what perhaps would need to be done on future projects.

@Zoladen4 жыл бұрын
I don't know how viable any of this is, but I wanted to build something to challenge you at one point and had a plan on doing that, so I'll just go ahead and throw it out there to see if it spurs any ideas. The goal was, when I got financially stable, to build a small scale, proof of concept prototype. This prototype would prioritize fluidity and speed of movement over raw power. The control scheme goal was to have it as a computer assisted puppet, with force feedback and impact braking so you don't accidentally thrash yourself apart from sudden impacts. I would throw balancing assistance software in there as well, since I'm sure that would be wildly different than what a human normally feels. (I'm a software developer and have looked into all of this.) I figured if I could prove it worked on a human scale, I was more likely to get funding to create a full scale prototype that could be controlled internally. The full scale prototype goal was supposed to be a bare-bones frame setup to be customized as desired. The reason being for this, if I could've gone through with all this and challenged Eagle Prime, win or lose, it's A: effin' awesome that I got into a giant robot fight and B: publicity for a product. I could either market the base for buyers to customize themselves, or do a built to order model. In the end, it would all come down to price and how much people were willing to pay for a functional, skeletal frame at a bare minimum. Especially if they planned on getting it combat ready over time. At the very least, Respawn would probably like one to promote Titanfall, if they ever make a third game. Is there a huge market for buying giant robots? Doubtful at best. There is also no availability of them either. You know what was great about Eagle Prime vs Iron Glory? You didn't have to wait for a challenger, you just did it yourself. At this point, if I wanted to stick to the plan of having a giant robot, it means I need two if I ever want to see combat. And I would just be throwing away money fighting against myself if I couldn't get viral recognition, or a spot on the news like you guys did. It's just not sustainable unless giant robots are more readily available and every person doesn't have to build their own. Ultimately, I'm really hoping you're able to stick around and come back from this in some way or another. I'll be hanging around regardless. I wish you the best and hope this was helpful in some small way. Keep at it man. You've got one person rooting for you at least.

I’m excited to hear what happened and how things went. Most of the channels I watch are about building things, this may be due to the fact that I’m an engineer, but I think more details about how you built the robots would be really helpful. I would watch that for sure. Look at SVSeeker. He’s building a boat but has a large following and a shop. It’s hard to start a league like this where the cost of entry is building a giant robot and you have the only one or two. It’s going to take a lot of trial and error but we’re all pulling for you. Make our childhood dreams a reality. I might also recommend getting the people out of the boys so there don’t have to be limits on the battle. You can’t exactly destroy the robot if there’s a person in there which seriously limits any form of combat. A way to make it more interesting at the same time would be to have some kind of simulator for the pilots to be in. Just a thought.

And even though I was sleep deprived, I was talking enthusiastically about the fight to all my friends (and probably earned an eye-roll from my crush lol). I kept telling everyone that YES, it was a little bit clunky and anti-climatic and scripted... but it was meant to showcase what the fights could look like once Megabots went Major League. That this was only the beginning, and it was still a major milestone in history. I was still hopeful that once the major sponsors and engineering companies came in, it would get so awesome... but I guess it will sadly not come in the near future. I was watching Megabots from the very beginning and my thoughts are that you should have stick to a smaller robot and build more of them along with designing the way that they would battle each other. My personal thoughts about your robot was that you built a glorified excavator with two booms instead of one and had multiple attachments. You should have focussed on a robot that would do simple walking moves and have basic attachments that would allow an identical robot to perform some sort of battle. Just my thoughts. I'm sure someday someone will come up with an interesting concept.

You used to be able to put a sort of overlay over the video. I forgot what it was called, by youtube got rid of it. Instead they now have the end screen, and the cards, to direct people toward the videos you want them to see. A lot of people probably don't look at the cards, and the end screen is at the end, so it's not as good as the previous option, which you could put at the beginning, or wherever. You could also probably sneak something into the closed caption, but that's probably a very limited audience.

Everyone is suggesting going smaller in scale, but like you say, there are already options in the marketplace for that. How about going along the lines of a vehicular combat league? In the vein of the video game Vigilante 8, but with paintballs/non-lethal weapons? It would keep things nice and big, significantly faster, lower the cost of entry as well as allow them to be co-piloted with a driver and a gunner. You would get backyarders developing vehicles and significantly increase participation right off the bat. You could use local speedways as venues. The ranged weapons would distinguish you from demo derbys and would mean the machines don't get destroyed every race. Hell, Suidobashi's machine was basically half a front end loader anyway. It's not giant fighting robots, but it's the most cost effective, implementable variation I can think of. I think it would be a cool concept if done correctly.

This is my first time commenting on this channel... I actually forgot about it because of exams but thank fully hacksmith reminded me about it so here I am. I may be a bit late but its often been said that the good things always reaches late. So ppl already told you sentimental stuff like don't give up, it's only a phase, etc. But what you should've have done from the start was go small.

Teams, funded by crowd funding. Perhaps ownership stakes in each team. So the hobbyists can determine their level of involvement and contribution. I'm sure certain areas worldwide might band together... so a league of sorts. Find sponsors to help with production and events, would have to be a big thing to work. And would have to prove a fan base big enough to support. So like dirt track racing, smaller exhibitions, and things go from there scaling up.

I honestly feel sad for you man selling those robots must be the hardest thing that you have ever done I think taking a break will do good for yourself

@MegaBots_Inc 1. I know your for entertainment but, get help from the military? 2. You should design a mech license prototype. Savvy? 3. You should make small robots. 4. You should design ejector seat(s) for mechs. 5. At least you not make real transforming mech like real transformers or real tobots, I bet they are expensive. 6. How many prototypes would you make for a flying mech? 7. You should design mechs made for fire fighting, police, and medic. 8. How much in theory on making a mobile mech base?

Holy crap 11k for 26M views... Jeeze youtube is becoming less and less viable by the day.

you guys should go around and document other team's stories and how they built their robots around the world. or you can focus on organizing fights for other mechs or giant robots for them and just kind of be the referees of the battles. instead of participating you could just build the league if thats possible at all

Seems like the damage is already done. You have a several million view video that will ALWAYS get served up to new viewers no matter what. At this point your only hope is to ignore the comments on it (within reason of course) and hope one day to upload something that replaces it in the top spot. Maybe the next videos should be "Whatever happened to MegaBots?!" or something super inflamitory like "Robots suck and here's why!" Not exactly lies but they would be baity enough without being inaccurate to stuff you want to talk about. The Sad Reality of how KZbin "works."

I was one of the 'scripted seems dumb' viewers, I still stuck around and really love the open direction this has gone. Still super bummed that it didn't work out but I hope you can make something work in the future.

It's a real shame that you guys were never really given a second chance after the Robot Duel video. It seems like you have and/or would have learned from the experience and made even cooler stuff, but alas, KZbin doesn't allow it. Still, what you've done is just amazing. You built mechs and had them fight. No one else in the world can say that. By the way, H A V E Y O U T R I E D S E L L I N G I T T O T H E M I L I T A R Y Y E T ?

Have you considered re-vitalizing the giant robot fighting idea with the benefits of augmented reality. There could be real people inside the giant robots yet their visuals would be accented through a distributed digital network. Create the bare-bones game engine and let developers build a variety of competitive games for the operators. This would allow you to feel and stream the perspective of alien or zombie fighting without the cost of damaging the actual robots. You could even scale down the bots and make them single passenger to save on cost.

Almost $11k, saved you some time. I'm sorry this channel went downward, I blame KZbin's bullshit Algorithm

Hi I've been following you for almost I believe 2 years now sure the brand wasn't doing so good I was hoping you're inspiration from Gundam, I know you got your inspiration from that due to the fact your build design was based around the early prototype of the gun tank anywho back to what I was saying . But yeah you tried I could tell and then I was really hoping to see an actual inspired gun tank design
