Heretic LBRP Recap (FAQ) [Esoteric Saturdays]

The LBRP (Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram) is a beacon, a shining standard in the world of Ceremonial Magick. A couple of years ago I revisited the LBRP in light of some new discoveries I'd made. The videos that I made about them were published DURING the process of discovery, and this led, understandibly to some confusion, especially for people watching the videos in the wrong order.
Today I propose to show you the Lesser Rituals of the Pentagram as I perform them (both Invoking and Banishing), as well as the thinking that supports these heretical versions.

I practice both Ceremonial Magic and Traditional Witchcraft, and I have this perpetual problem of using both the traditional GD elemental associations and the Northern Quarters system (both already thoroughly personalized). Watching this series unfold has been awesome, I love seeing a competent and knowledgeable magician do their thing, but this entry hit different. I had to run for my notebook and scribble down your diagrams, and now need to rewatch the series as a whole, because this seems like it could lead me to a really satisfying compromise between the two. So thankful for you and folks like you doin the work, and showing others the process of experiment and discovery.

I really appreciate the honest criticism you have of yourself and that you're always improving as a Magician as well. This video came as a synchronicity for me as I was thinking of revising my own video of the LBRP I made a while back. I agree with you fully on the Raphael and Michael dilemma that caused me a week of stressful pondering. Dion Fortune has Raphael as the ruler of Tiphareth and Michael as the ruler of Hod. I kept finding repeated instances of this and decided to include those associations in my LBRP. This is "Occult Science" after all. We need to always experiment with methods that were after all invented by humans. Side note: it is interesting to see the Zodiacal wheel go Fire (Aries), to Water (Pisces), to Air (Aquarius), to Earth (Capricorn). Counterclockwise at least Long comment but I really appreciated this video.

One of the first things i tried to understand, when i started magick, where the elements. People back then had different views, knowledge, words and so on. And i tried to view the elements with a modern mindset. We still use elements, no doubt, but we also have aggregate states. Very simplified: An Element = Matter with the lowest energy (or let's say warmth) is Solid = Earth. Add energy/Warm it up and it becomes Liquid = Water. Add more and it turns into Gas = Air. Add even more and we have Plasma = Fire. Something about this just clicks with me very much. I wonder what more advanced practitioners think about this.

I think it supports Denis' view on the order of the elements. 8:27: to invoke you start with the element closest to the spirit (fire) and work your way to the furthest (earth). And banishing starts at the furthest and works it's way up to the closest to spirit. Also the part at 11:22 "Water above air?". I hope this helps. What it means to you and your practice, i can't tell. I can't even tell what it means to my practice most of the time. I'm a beginner and just wanted to share my insight, that no one to my knowledge mentioned.

It does all fall in to place so nicely. There's something empowering about going through the system like that to reaffirm the mechanics of the formula. It's like checking the working out of a maths equation and finding that again the numbers all add up as they should. I'm sure this process strengthens the magick.

Dear Denis, you have a legion of fans and a lot of messages to comment/reply, so I don't want to monopolize you with too many messages. But your modifications to the LBRP reminded me of an important statement made by our dear Josephine McCarthy, when she says that no one will go very far in magic if they just repeat what others have already done. This makes a lot of sense to me, even more so because I realize that most of us introduce modifications, even if slight ones, in order to resonate more adequately with the individual psyche and each one’s formation/history. In that sense, it seems to me that Ms. McCarthy is absolutely right when she says that there is no magic identical to another, nor is one practitioner identical to the other, as each one practices in their own way. All this legitimate 100% all the modifications you suggested in the LBRP, don't you think so?

Great video Denis! I always love your insights and approach. I use the let’s call it “medium heretical” LRBP, with Michael at the East and embodying Fire. After +25 years practicing, I made that change maybe 5 years ago with some insights also from the GOM and following the historical order. And Michael with Fire and at the East just made a breakthrough in my practice, specially when working with the Archangels (I sometimes use the modern correspondences in some rituals). This is quite helpful. I've only known the GD LBRP. Just like we've seen though with splits in those esoteric schools like Rosicrucians, Golden Dawn, OTO, they all have commonalities but sometimes differing practices. I've read a very in depth book by a Freemason that takes a look at the Sephiroth through their own interpretation and how it relates to the degrees in that system. It differs from how GD interprets the positions of the paths on the Sephiroth. My point in saying that is, I've come to the conclusion that there is not one way to do these magical practices. Which is refreshing! We should always be trying different techniques. I think the "God" or whatever it is, intends for us to have one thousand different opinions on the subject, so we'll all play a part in finding the truth. Great video!

I've followed your LBRP series from the beginning. You inspired me to completely rethink my practice, why I did it and how personal it was to me. I delved deep into research, picking apart every step as to why it was performed and what its symbolic purpose was. I omitted things and included new ideas. I now have my very own ritual, completely unique and personalised to me and my craft. I fully understand each tiny detail, every movement, each word. Perhaps to others it would not make sense and parts would be questioned or argued upon. But I know I can counter argue why I do or don't do every single part and back it up with references. The Ciceros have also suggested that the archangels of the Sephiroth, the Planets, and the Elements are different. I believe it was in their Self-Initiation into the Golden Dawn Tradition book that they explain this.

The pentagrams drawn as such for Air/Water become pentagrams of Active and Passive Spirit. Studying the Lesser Ritual and the Greater Ritual in tandem gives context as for why these things are done this way.

I've tried so many variations of the pentagram ritual, including yours. Each variation has it's reasoning. I agree with your variation the most, it makes the most sense to me of them all. But I've found after sticking with various versions, that even the approach, intent, and intensity for the same variation can widely differ from day to day. I believe all that really matters is your intent and how much enthusiasm and energy you put into the ritual, whatever variation is performed. When I'm pressed for time I'll do the simple chaos magick pentagram version, when I'm feeling mystical I'll follow the written rituals to the T, when im feeling more psychological and practical I'll use your approach, then there's when I just experiment for myself.

Wowowow I just watched Damien Echoels video on the Lesser Hexagram Ritual. He explains that the four directions has to do with the 4 seasons. Consciousness on earth. Then moving into the hexagram it’s consciousness of the zodiac. Very helpful and highly recommend giving it a watch. More info. Now to integrate it with all I’ve learned so far 🤔

Hi Foolish Fish, I wanted to add my 2 cents about this whole conversation, I know that the explanation that I received by more naturalist Wiccan/ Witchcraft practitioners, was to do with the nature of the directions and the Northern Hemisphere. Here in the Southern Hemisphere we specifically switch the North and South elements, relating to our experience of the actual nature of the directions, South Pole cold, Equator hot xD ... Another thing with regards to the Widdershins, Deosil, I was again taught that the reason is the way the Sun moves through the sky in the Northern Hemisphere vs the Southern, so here I comfortably go E, N, W, S. Lastly and this coming from a very unread area of this topic, I'm assuming the Golden Dawn, either did put it blinds, or based their arrangement of the elements based off the 3 Mother Letters of Kabbalism, Shin (Fire), Alpeh (Air), Mem, Mem, for Water and Earth? I'm not 100% sure, however there is a good "tiktoker/YT", whom wrote a book available online for free I believe called The Book of Yirah, which helps with some of the cipher of Kabbalism (I noticed reading Mnaly P. Hall, I was able to see him reference the Mother Letters in concept/phrases for example.) I am also not a traditional circle / LBRP user, I generally have my own methods outside of the discussed, however I did want to mention that I noted that like the Tertramorph, and examples in Eastern Traditions , each culture around the world has guardians or kings of each direction, Dwarves in the Norse mythology for example. The Buddhist I believe have a different element system, and also have guardians for the NE NW, SE, SW etc, which can be seen in the relation between mother letters and the "7 Double Letters" mentioned by the Author from Restoration of the Breach (His Tiktok lives are where the action is btw) - Note: Hindus also include the in-between, and I guess the Enochian tables cover the in-between in-betweens lol. Anyways my point is I love thinking about this stuff and I appreciate the possibility of this comment. My thanks,

I see your explanation for the 3 mother letters being true in that arrangement. I've also seen the Hebrew language used as a guide to assemble the 32 paths on the Sephiroth. I think this is at its core the truth. It would make sense to arrange these rituals and the Sephiroth accurate with the Hebrew letters. The Rose Cross for instance is said to be assembled using the Hebrew letters. But whether we think its good, or accurate is subjective. I tend towards the mysterious origins of this entire magical system. To me, many esoteric groups have either deliberately obfuscated or unintentionally changed the symbolism. Information changes over time, so one Rabbi's interpretation gets outshined by another, later understanding. In the end, I don't think any group knows for certain. Which is a good thing.

Hi, Foolish Fish, I’ve been following your channel since late 2020 i think and i want to thank you for all your effort by sharing all these materials (books and paraphernalia). About Josephine’s work I would really appreciate your standpoints in regards to the LBRP. I’m training Quareia and I would really like to know yours and other practitioners’ standpoints around that topic. On my path I’ve found lots of magical training resources, most of them stemming from the Golden Dawn tradition, which i respect but has never really resonated within me (thus I’ve never trained on those systems), then I stumbled upon Josephine McCarthy’s work i felt an instant connection, something resonated within me, a voice saying "this is it, what you’ve asked for". I was (and still am) in awe of the sheer amount of work she has made available for free and how well organized everything is (lots of lessons, encompassing divination, tools, energy work, ritual, visualization and so on)… My question comes from what i see as a very important practice for people working on Golden Dawn system (and all its offspring i.e. the lodges coming afterwards), all those folks sharing their practice here and elsewhere seem to use it as a main practice and some of them, like yourself have also struggled to find out "the right elemental/directional correspondences just to make sense of that particular practice, and all that seem (to me) a little bit "packed in a box", almost contrary to what Josephine always suggests (she literally says "LBRP is something that only banishes the magician’s sanity in the first place), I don’t quite get why is so important in your and others’ practice (since i don’t really use it and have never practiced it). For what i understand is almost like a constant cleansing, which in fact creates an "antiseptic" spiritual environment and restricts the magician’s sensitivity and inner "immune system" (as if the magician lived in a sealed antiseptic chamber). I’ve seen your videos speculating on the "right" correspondences of it just to make that pattern work and i think a true magical lineage should not "disguise" that kind of information, i think the best filter for magic are the magician themselves, i mean: the contacted lineage share the information, the "know-hows" and the magician’s spiritual involvement, intent and discipline would bear their fruits on their own… So, why in the first place would they share something as a foundational practice of their system which don’t really work hands-on? I think that’s deceitful. Besides that, Josephine also talks about some lodges having systems extremely filtered, which only allows a very faint spiritual contact and never really reach deep inner contacts (i resonate with that), currently I’m walking ”The Lone Path" and i recognize is a very tricky thing: realizing one’s limitations, weaknesses, months of little or none work at all because not knowing wtf has happened in my life because of the practices I’m doing, figuring out through divination, struggling with discipline, experiencing energetic ups and downs, marching slowly, being extremely careful with every step, etc. (I know those difficulties are some of the main reasons people join a magical lodge or group). I would really enjoy reading some insights from you and anyone wanting to talk about it in a polite way in order to share and grow. Glad that you added another video to this series! Thanks to you I am playing around with the structure of the LBRP as well. I personally am more left hand path and was thinking of how I can apply "Up" and "Down" in addition to the 4 cardinal directions to make it more like a Saturnine Cube. I haven't had a lot of luck looking online for a structured LBRP that incorporates what I am looking for so while looking for god names I found Aibishter (The One Above) and Somech Noflim (Supporter of the Fallen). These seem like they will be good fits for up and down but haven't settled on Angels to accompany those god names. I'm thinking of calling Metatron for up but am undecided for who to call for down. I will have to experiment myself but was curious if you or anyone else tried similar things and if/what they had luck with. Hope you take care as always and keep up the good work!!!

You're doing it all wrong, you might as well pack it all up and join the circus - lol. I actually heard years ago from someone more knowledgeable than I, that the HOotGD put up a 'blind' for the uninitiated, that Swords/Fire was replaced with Swords/Air and Wands/Air was replaced Wands/Fire as we see in the Tarot. So your conclusion makes sense East/Fire/Swords and South/Air/Wands. For myself being a BTW I stick to the East/Air and South/Fire - but ceremonial magick is different. As we ocultists/esoteric's (insert your label here) are highly independent and non-conformists. I think it's more important to do what 'feels' right for each of us. I've heard of that replacement too. It was an off remark from someone I wouldn't doubt has the knowledge. It didn't make much sense looking at the Thoth Deck, but now in the LBRP it makes perfect sense. Then it again I feel my mind melting a little trying to piece it all together. Very intriguing! Weeks ago I mispronounced Mikael after ages of LBRPs and from that instance onward he appeared “silvery” to me. Scrying sessions have been less fruitful with him but he gave some interesting clue as to what may be taking place. I really like what you have done there! I myself felt long ago the LBRP was somewhat off, and did some experiments with different versions. I'll try some of your modifications and see if I like them. I also changed the god names for the directions for example EHEHIEH, I put in the south for fire, because that's the name associated with the burning bush. ADNI I put with Earth because of the association with Adonai Ha Aretz, lord of the earth. I also arranged the elements according to the Enochian watchtowers when working with that system. I whole heartedly believe that as magicians we ought to be able to tinker around with whatever system we are using, much like how a mechanic will tinker with a race car to get the best performance for their liking. if we are too wedded to one particular way of seeing things I think we limit ourselves and what we can do. the system should serve out needs not the other way around, is my feeling on it. good work I enjoy your videos!

FINALLY! I watched that heretical LBRP video a few times last year when I was first beginning to study and practice ceremonial magick. I then eventually used an enhanced version put forth by Damien Echols, which incorporates Metatron and Sandalphon along with the other four archangels. Of course, switching Raphael and Michael doesn't work for me personally because I haven't read enough on the subject to comfortably alter my previous LBRP practice. It just feels right to have Raphael descend in a flurry of birds and kiss me on the forehead, while Michael strides up to the circle backed by dragons and drawing a flaming sword.

Love your work brother 🙏 Someone from an order told me that the LBRP doesn’t have to do with the angels it’s the tree of life. In archangel Magic by Damon Brand he presents the ancient circle of Power. Placing Uriel in the North with earth, Gabriel in the west with Water, Raphael in the south with air, and Michael in the east with Fire. Also has you start in the North and go counterclockwise (deocil) per the aurum Solis. Another interesting note is Josephine Mcarthy’s LBRP in the apprentice module of Queriea. She says projecting the pentagrams outside your body how Golden Dawn does is incorrect. Found that interesting. Hers is the only place I’ve seen such information. It seems to align with the concept of the tree of life being within the magus. Thank you again for your work 🙏

Heretical all the way! It's also making it way easy for me. Let me explain. When banishing, the first element you go on pentagram (widdershins) is the next element you also turn next. Like you draw a pentagram at the north and the first element you draw is water. So you are turning from N to W and it Water. At West, the first element you draw to is Air. So, you are turning from W to S and Air and so on. Also, when invoking the first element you draw to (deosil) is also the next element you turn next. Like you draw a pentagram at East and the first element you draw is air. So you are turning from E to S and it's Air. At South, the first element you draw to is Water. So, you are turning from S to W and it Water.

Perfect recap. I tried a few different things but stuck with the GD framework. I say framework because the LBRP gets "micro-adjusted" daily. Regardie suggested that the entire system was meant to be flexible for the aspirant. He even used the word "scaffolding" when talking about these formulas. I believe Gordon White, in Ani.Mystic, has a good section on the age of reason and how emperical data being the new gospel might of been overdone. While these formulas are just that, I look at them more like a recipe than an algebra equation. Does it generally matter if I put the flour in before the sugar for cookies? Ultimately, many esotericists were interested in psychology or were psychologists themselves, and I agree with you statement that your thoughts are one of the most important factors. Also, someone posted a good academic-style lecture in the Discord Ritual/Pentagram channel, that has a lot of good info on the LBRP history. I'll try to find the link and post below...

Yet I'm now a bit confused as I must have heard wrong about the starting point AND about the positions of Earth & Air as I seem to have reversed them... while doing the LIRP, I've been starting facing the South and I had Earth in the South... so now I'll try it with Air in the South... and just to double check, do you start the LIRP by facing South? I start both the invoking and banishing rituals towards the East. Take a look at the live demonstration linked in the description. The first movement of the banishing is to trace from East to North, then a banishing pentagram of Earth in the North. For Invoking, the first movement is an invoking pentagram in the East followed by a tracing from East to South.

It seems to me that the ritual that works best for you will always be the one that makes the most sense to you. There is a well thought out logic to your changes. My theory is there is a lesson in the contradictions in how the GD pentagrams are drawn. The pentagrams themselves don't care how you draw them, its the internal associations with your actions that count. If they don't make sense to you, it can only be counter productive.

I do have one *small* objection, but as you’ll see, it is in perfect alignment with something you said… You state that the opposite of fire is water and I disagree with that. It seems logical, and I get what you mean by “opposite” because water is cold and wet where fire is hot and dry - but opposites in an energetic sense need to uphold a balance in polarity. So there is no fire without air, no earth without water. Water is square fire - a Mars energy, which is why it extinguishes it - it kills it, it doesn’t balance it. But your point is still valid and it’s still the same - the opposite of water is *not* air, so banishing earth by invoking water doesn’t make much sense. But if you’ll notice… when banishing water, moving away from water and towards earth, or moving away from air and towards fire, makes perfect sense in this regard, because those are the polar opposite of the element.

I see what you mean about the Scorpio eagle being a symbol of air. As far as the three stages of transformation of the Scorpio I've noticed that it seems like all 4 elements are represented as if Scorpio, as the only one with these stages of transformation, moves through all of them. Starting with the Scorpion (earth), the eagle (air) and Phoenix (fire). And the Scorpio sign itself is a water sign. I have no idea if this has any merit. I'm just thinking out loud. What do you think?

Same as with the other elements. Deosil to invoke, widdershins to banish, just starting from the top point. No 'active/passive' though, which are clearly the result of re-purposing the same pentagram for multiple elements which I don't do.

@@FoolishFishBooks Hmmm...in the Golden Dawn method, the invoking active spirit is paired when invoking air and fire; and the invoking passive spirit is paired when invoking water and earth. This all seems a little convoluted (although there must have been valid consideration when doing so). I much rather agree with your simplistic yet practical approach of not bothering with the whole passive/active spirit distinctions and rather settling for "when invoking spirit start at spirt and go clockwise". Therefore when applied to the SIRP ritual, the invoking spirit pentagram [start at spirit and go clockwise] will be paired when invoking all four of the elements of fire, earth air and water. This approach has the huge advantage of being consistent and allowing the meme "start at point of pentagram that is to be invoked and draw clockwise to invoke" to crystallise into the subconscious at a much deeper and fundamental level...as opposed to the Golden Dawn where all the intricacies of how to invoke and banish each element has to be memorised without the support of a consistent methodology.

This is exactly what I was thinking about yesterday and true to what you are talking about the elemental order of FIRE, WATER, AIR and EARTH is in fact, the 4 cardinal points on the zodiac calendar wheel. If we start with ARIES (fire at 9 oclock), CANCER (water at 6 oclock), LIBRA (air at 3 oclock) and CAPRICORN (earth 12 oclock), this is the turn of the seasons so yes, the Tetragrammatron elemental order is aligned with these seasonal square cardinal aspects. Logically if you think, shouldn't the order be in terms of nature, earth (planet), water (ocean), air (in between water and fire) then fire (spirit) make more sense? Not really. If you refer to the science, which is what Kabbalah is, the order of earth, air, water then fire makes more sense because without trees omitting oxygen for us to breathe on earth, there would be no life. The clouds contain water due to evaporation and return it to the ground for things to grow etc. I love your videos and am still making my way through the Golden Dawn by Israel Regardie and Chaos Magic by Andrieh Vitimus.

HI, i also find something interesting on this time, i use raphael of spring and the first hours of the day as the kickstarter of the system when i want to do elemental magic and michael the messenger of mercury when i want to go to planetary energies, both are lucifer, but at diferent levels. (wich correlates to aang, master of air and zuko, master of fire on avatar the last airbender, that show is very fine tuned). i also use the chinese wuxing pentagram when i feel a little lost on where exactly is every part, as that culture has the luck of not being mutilated by a uncompasionate church and has studied that symbol in very meticulous ways for centuries. wuxing shows all the roads

The thing is, again, I'm not suggesting GD's version is "Wrong", and "active and passive is exclusive to GD. Still, you can easily assign clockwise for active and counterclockwise for passive for Spirit, since you'd never be "banishing" it per se... However my recommendation is that if you're sticking with Golden Dawn for the rest of your practice, I'd recommend following them on this too. Same with any other system. I don't follow a 'system' other than my own which is informed by other systems, but not directed by them :)

I am not an expert on magik or TCM However, I'm intuitive and study herbalism. I have some thoughts on the direction of pentacle mentioned . TCM uses elements and have ways to move them for different purposes (as a very simle way to put it). I think you could encorporate that into what you are trying to accomplish. The apparent course of the sun goes north heare instead of south, and the south-er you go, the colder it is. I have ben studying TCM and there are the same complications, they also have 5 elements and the more complex it becomes the quicker you get lost in the rules. Now perhaps that is my apporach, but as in acupuncture, I do not give a shit anymore about rationality and just follow my intuition. This I also do with rituals. I start with one and halfway it may change due to I Know Not. I follow as it enfolds in complete trust based on my intention and the support of the divine....And then historical mistakes are compensated by surrender. Perhaps an odd approach for a magus?

Most of western Magick relies in clockwise (CW) and anti-clockwise (ACW) movements and the 4 directions (east, south, west and north). My question might look stupid and unrelated or might been answered in other video (for that I'm sorry asking the same subject again), but what do you think about Magick orientation being inverted in the south hemisphere of the planet (ACW for invoking and CW for banishing)? I am taking in consideration how water flows CW in the sink on the north hemisphere and ACW in the south hemisphere. I ask this because you showed how the clock orientation is important for your Magick, and I remembered how things might flow differently on each side of the equator (I am brazilian, btw). Do you think it is a big deal?

Regarding the archangels, I have to say that, after years doing LBRP, my biggest difficulty remains with properly visualizing Rafael and Michael, wich strongly inclines me to try your take on this subject. Besides that it makes perfect sense really. However, I would like to know what your arguments are for disagreeing with Damien Echols' statement regarding the diverse nature of the archangels who rule the elements and the Sephirot, which also seems reasonable to me. Last consideration: all these conceptions seem to me ways of modeling the energetic fields manipulated by the directed will of the practitioner. I mean, none of them would correspond to the exact "physical" nature, so to speak, of subtle realities. For example, when taking the famous and already crystallized model of the chakras of the etheric body, most people seem to consider that this corresponds to the supraphysical nature of man, however, there are some Eastern mystics, versed in decades of practice based on many centuries of occult knowledge, who admit that it is just a model, that is, a way of "sculpting" the subtle energies that constitute us, as is the mystical kabbalistic system, e.g. in its most famous manifestation, which is that of the Middle Pillar Ritual. DE's reason for suggesting that the Raphael featured on the tree of life and the Raphael attributed to an Element are two separate angels is precisely becuse it doesn't make sense for Raphael to rule over air if he 's the ruler of the Sun, so they must be two different angels. Well, I say Raphael rules over the Sun, indeed, which rises in the East, and over Fire, the element of the sun. There's no need for speculating on there being more than one Raphael... I also disagree with his way of attributing elements to different seasons, I think he gives Earth to autumn and Air to Winter... which may work to some extent on a "feeling" basis (though not in my opinion better than any other configuration), only the wheel of the Zodiac seems pretty clear to me. Ultimately, you are of course bang on the money when you say that these are just models, and their power arises from agreement and repetition. one book you should get, if you can still find it, is the Golden Dawn Journal: Book 2: Qabalah: Theory and Magic there is a chapter on Angels, but suggest that there are many angels, with identical names ..similar to Echols and that's why you have Michael as fire, and Michael for mercury..they are different beings of different offices in it,the sepherotic, planetary, and elemental are different entities...also in the sephirotic, you have lesser angels under the arch angel, with similar names from other sephiroth..so the archangel Rafael, may rule Hod, but if you look at the angel of Tifereth ..not the archangel, the lesser angel, it's rafael too they suggest using a surname, if you get confused..so the angel of tifereth would be rafael tiferethiel..or something like that..to distinguish it from rafael of hod, or rafael hodiel my personal opinion, is similar, but instead of the surname, use the office as a title..rafael of Hod...to me it sounds more regal...like "duke of", or "countess of"

I am very new to all of this and I would really appreciate your help in understanding if I would lessen the power of the LBRP (or otherwise cause unwanted trouble) by not calling upon the names of the angels and the gods of the Hebrew bible, but instead call on Nuit, Babylon etc....making it more Thelemic in nature. I have fathomed your understanding of symbolism in astrological signs, yet still have questions. If you associate spring signs with element Earth, and spring/morning/childhood are related to East; then, why do you still relate Fire to East, etc.? Should not your directional elements look like this: East = Earth, South = Fire, West = Air, North = Water? P.S.: this association interestingly looks like feng shui and its directional elements, with exception of east being wood and earth being in the centre.
