Every time I see a recent or current production '92 "clone" in .45 Colt's I kick myself for not buying at least one of the Rossi '92 clones I ran up on in a Copperas Cove, TX gun store back in 1986 while I was stationed at Ft. Hood. They had beautiful wood, and the bluing was superb. All of them were chambered in the historically correct .44-40 and the store was well stocked with Winchester ammo in that caliber. Price per rifle at the time? $350.00+tax at that particular store.

@@Almost_Made_It Pythons have always been a good bit out of my price range, even well-maintained used ones. I will, say this though, over the last fifty or so years I've seen many a firearm and their prices vary a lot from store to store in the same town or community. I once (around 1988 if memory serves) purchased a like new Colt's Detective Special at what was then my favorite gun store for under $150.00+tax out the door only to see, a couple of weeks later, an equally nice DS at a store only a few miles away for nearly double the price of the revolver I had purchased. Since the store I found those .44-40s at was the closest to where I lived, I was guilty more often than not, of not "price shopping" for better deals. At that particular moment I had cash money and could have afforded one or two of those rifles and maybe even a case of ammo, but I purchased something else that was so unremarkable that all I remember about it is that it was bolt action in .30-06 and that it made for excellent trading material several years later.
