I have the Rossi 1892 in a 20" 38/357 Blued version that I love. I've shortened the mag spring, replaced the plastic with a metal mag follower, and put in a reduced power ejector spring in. It loads and runs smooth, doesn't toss the empties into the next county, and is great fun and accurate, and economical to reload for. I believe the one and only really useful aspect of the manual safety, and that I use it for, is when you need to repeatedly cycle the action to empty the magazine, it provides additional safety by blocking the firing pin against any accidental hammer fall. I really enjoyed your video.❤DJ

Just bought my Heritage 92 16" .357/.38 Spcl in mid October. Signed up for the 'Free Rough Rider' Taurus Promo the same day, now awaiting shipment of the Rough Rider Revolver. After receiving this '92 Lever Action Rifle, but before getting to the range to shoot it, I had read multiple posts about bulging .357 brass with this rifle. Fear not, after 30 rounds of mixed .38 Special and .357 Magnum, both 158 gr rounds, there wasn't a single bulged shell, misfire, or failure of any kind. Shooting at the range maximum of 100 yards, the sights (set in the second elevation notch) were dead on target, even with my poor eyesight! This turned out to be an extremely well built 92 Winchester reproduction and I feel my money was well spent. I have previously had 2 original 100+ year old Winchester Rifles (40-60 & 32-20) and this Heritage 92 runs the rounds just as well as they ever did, maybe even better! Even though today's inflation put the current rifle well above what both originals cost back in the 1980's, I am very pleased with it! I hope everyone else can have the same positive experiences I have had with all 5 of my Heritage firearms, Cheers!

I have 44s. If you hold reciever in left hand with you thumb on the cartridge sitting in the loading gate it's a lot easier to load rather than pushing them in just trying to guide them in one handed.

Those are identically the same guns as the Rossi 92, made in Montenegro, Brazil by CBC......as Heritage is owned by Taurus/CBC. These are really nice, and the bluing is as well done as shown in the video. Seeing is believing how well the fit and finish is. I got the .44 Magnum w/ octagonal 24" barrel.

I have a Rossi 92 rifle w/24" octagon barrel, chambered in 45 Colt. Hopefully you reload, as 45 Colt is fairly expensive (~$1/round), so save your brass. I load 45 Colt "cowboy" loads (low power) for my 1872 open top pistol & rifle loads (high power, similar to 44 Mag) for my Rossi 92. I've removed the bolt safety & installed a peep sight in it's place. I've also installed a red fiber optic front sight. These give me a longer sight radius & it's easier/quicker for me to pick up the front sight (I'm 75).

Nice gun! I didn't realize that Heritage was making rifles too, I'll have to check them out. Viewers should not get so uptight about Winchester clones and their features as Winchester did offer all manor of combinations of standard features in addition to customizations. I own an original example of switched standard features in a 3rd model '73 with a rifle buttstock and a carbine length barrel and barrel bands. So, a rifle, combined with a carbine buttstock would seem to be a possibility back in the day.

Rossi, heritage, and Taurus are all the same brand now. My guess is same tooling as the Rossi's unless there's information that says otherwise.

Dustin, As always great reviews.. Thank you very much. The gun looks good but after my last purchase and problem with it, I am very disappointed in Heritage's customer service. I have always liked Heritage but for now I won't I buy anything from them. You and your family have a beautiful and blessed weekend. LORD GOD Bless and stay vigilant.

I would have sworn I saw the famous shot of John Wayne in "The Searchers" before the video opened 😂 I thought "What th does this title have to do with the Winchester model he used in this scene?" Don't tell me you didn't notice the similarity ! I wish I could have fun with guns here in Germany like you do as we too have increasing problems with high fructose bandits. Well, maybe someday as I write historical westerns and plan to find an American publisher this or next year to publish them where they really belong: In the country that has occupied a big spot in my heart since my youth through music, movies, literature and culture. Edit: Altough the models from the movie and this one look very similar... 🤔

Wow, not very loud. But, looks like it works very good for being pretty much out of the box. Okay, looks like I'll look back into some other Heritage firearms. So, I am interested in their Taurus line.

I love the Rough Rider series Heritage makes, but this gun missed the mark for me. Not saying I don't like the gun, but the MSRP is *hundreds* of dollars more expensive than either of my original Winchester '94 (made in 1896 and 1953 respectively). I'd rather buy another pre64 at the prices they're asking personally. Plus even a Winchester in rough condition will hold it's value and potentially increase in value overtime. I don't think the same will be said about the Heritage 50+ years in the future. . Great video as always Dustin. The world is safer since you took care of that carbonated bandit👍🏻

Hopefully someday you get a chance to review the Diablo and Desperado black powder pistol shotguns by American Gun Craft. I plan on getting one soon for auto defense as I travel the country. Edit: Wonderful video as always. Thanks for doing what you do!

Does this rifle and the rossi have a steel receiver or alumium.?
@jeff96403 ай бұрын
Steel. Their materials are very good and usually well finished.
@Zazuk68Ай бұрын
At 1:34 there is a good picture of bad fitment of the stock to the receiver right under the firing hammer. Looks like the stock could have a little more wood. But it does look nice other then that.
