Oh boy - I can't tell how honored I am that you guys featured my designs in this episode! I thank you with all my heart for doing so - I really appreciate it. And thank you for highlighting the two things for which I am most proud in my designs - the diversity of subject matters and styles, and the "fun factor" of my games. When I decided to become a designer, I promised myself I would not get in a rut and churn out the same designs one after the other. For example, that's why I've only designed three ACW Blind Swords games ... I thought I had done enough and I wanted to move the system forward into other scales and complexities. And the idea of having games be primarily fun is just an outcrop of me having to work two jobs for decades and having very little gaming time. So when I did game, the last thing I wanted to do was work hard and think too much. I wanted my games to be escapism, adventure and enjoyable and that's why I try to inject fun even into the serious historical wargames. Anyway, thanks again for your kind words and support. I hope to be doing this for a while longer (yes, I am somewhat old at 67) and pumping out fun game designs. Thanks again and best wishes!

I think its awesome that you left Blind Swords with Revolution for other designers to continue on with. In today's world, with copyright laws, IP licenses, how awesome is it that you allowed other prospective designers an opportunity to use a game design you created. That's just super generous and fantastic. I'm sure you must be proud to see the series with so many titles! Best wishes for continued success and fun on your part. A big fan of yours from up here in Arwulf country, in Ohio! Cheers 🍻

There are always “ Eggs Easter’s” in Herm’s non- historical games and sometimes even in his historical games. See “Dead Reckoning” for Abbott and Costello references, or The Struggle for Zorn: the Red Blight or even in some historical games. For example, in “Longstreet Attacks” (if I remember correctly) there is a scenario named “Hammerin’ Sickles.” We used that as a test, if you didn’t laugh the game was not for you.

I’ll tell you are “secret” about “Dawn of the Zombies”. All the heroes are named after Mets players. Did you ever notice that? Most of Herman’s non-historical games have multiple levels of fun memes built in. For example “Farmingdale” was on Long Island, as was “Plum Island.”

@ThePlayersAid10 ай бұрын
Honestly they’re quite different, if you like desert war there’s room for both in the collection. The supply mechanics are much more significant in NA41 but you also lose the chit pull, so it’s a bit more predictable in that way.

Shelves of Shame? Try a house full of shame, and whose fault is that? Mine, even though I have so little resistance to my addiction! Certainly not! As I can think of two sirens disguised as gentlemen game reviewers who are responsible for at least half of my game collection. Two full closets, one full pantry, and an additional nine floor to ceiling bookcases full of shame. Friends that avoid me when I start talking about a new game, let alone trying to drag them into playing a new game. Come on, trust me, you're going to love this game! No, it is not a long game...only two or three hours, after I teach you the rules. Shame, shame on you two! My moto is, "the best game is the last game you played with your friends." Happy New Year and may you both find new games to add to your all time favorite games list.

I’m glad to see Luttmann get some positive press after he recently was VERY unfairly denigrated and insulted by reckless hobby activists who took him to task for designing In Magnificent Style (one of your favorite games) which features the Confederacy. Would love to see you guys explore Blind Swords! Thunder in the Ozarks is excellent, Longstreet Attacks has the popular 20th Maine scenario, and A Greater Victory has a short introductory scenario. Either way, you can’t go wrong with Blind Swords!
