"Hard life course you needed white horse to defeat the Chimera" In greek mythology, Bellerophon used Pegasus (a white horse) to defeat the Chimera (mythical monster). White horse is also slang for cocaine or heroine. Chimera also has a 2nd definition meaning impossible or unattainable dream. In this second interpretation, Ka is saying your naive unrealistic dreams were shattered by drugs. Ka is a fucking genius

This is absurd! How is it that no one in Hip-Hop talks about KA. He is clearly one of the best writers ever.
@darrylmiller96436 жыл бұрын
Anthony Anderson, with all do respect I understand what you are saying but it doesn't address what I am saying on a serious level. The muted conversations that are held between a few purists do not absolve the strange silence on an artist of this level by some of the biggest purveyors of this Art. Art is appreciated by the masses only when it is given the proper context by the gatekeepers. You and I may respectively dig and pass on, but it is a violation to hold on to such beauty without revealing its intricacies to the people. There is no rationale reason why Ka and Skyzoo have consistently released amazing pieces of master level lyricism and they are not at least in a public discussion brought forth by Royce, Sway, Kendrick, Torae, Jay, Crooked, and multiple others who push for the craft's integrity.
@darrylmiller96436 жыл бұрын
Good morning, respectfully brother I disagree on multiple points. It's not the production, because if the issue was the production than Skyzoo would be fare more popular than he is. He is another top level lyricist that is extremely intricate with his pen and requires that you listen on multiple levels. And again to ground this conversation I am not talking about main stream appeal. I am speaking about the gatekeepers who are complicit in the muffling of the great lyricists. With that in mind, Royce is not "popular' because of his legacy fan base. Royce has an upswell because of the recent stimulus package he got from Eminem. The same can be said for Kendrick (Dr. Dre), and J. Cole (Jay-Z). I was talking about both of them way before they actually blew up. Respectfully brother, I know how Ka views his own fame. I have been listening to him since his appearance on GZA's Pro Tools album. I think Days with Yen Lo is one of the greatest albums I have ever heard in my life, and I listen to multiple genres of music. Still I find it disgusting that those who are arguing over "real" lyricism know full well about Reks, Blu, Locksmith, Ka, Skyzoo, Elzhi, and multiple others but remain silent on these artists.
@badantiherochato6 жыл бұрын
@jom james how you turn ka deserving recognition into kooky conspiracy shit
@darrylmiller96436 жыл бұрын
@21 Streetifucation ....I find it disingenuous when I see top tier lyricists complain about recognition, attack the younger generation, and scream about being underrated while they are quiet about lyricists they know are deserving of praise. Think about it, when have you heard Skyzoo mentioned? How is it that we are ranting and raving about Eminem's project and have totally ignored great projects from Roc Marciano, Evidence, Phonte, Saba, and others? It is way too political. I know these artists are aware of Skyzoo because they are promoting Westside Gunn and Conway. We know Skyzoo is on another level. They are talking about Chance while Saba just released a beautiful album about the struggles of being a kid in Chicago. Its really a joke.
@darrylmiller96436 жыл бұрын
@21 Streetifucation Agreed, and it happens with youth and contemporaries. Crooked dissent mention Locksmith and totally were quiet about Chino XL. In Atlanta J.I.D and Nick Grant. In Philly it is Shawn Smith. Its really amazing. Great authors speak about other authors, and the same goes for dance, visual arts, and most music forms. This is really weird.

I wish I had the right words to describe how beautiful this whole thing is. From the video to the instrumental, especially those mesmerizing strings. The lyrics of course, I love the metaphors, the references to greek mythology, how he delivers the lines with a sense of seriousness and coldness, but still not monotone.
