In this video we are going to talk about the BIG MOON in Hermitcraft Season 8.
This includes Mumbo Jumbo and his Mooners cult, Grian stealing beds, the Big Eyes, the Octagon and their Hermatrix and alot more!

Another thing I find interesting is that the nether (and possibly the end too) is not affected by any of the gravity stuff and yet the hermits don't even think about evacuating to there xD

i feel like they must be intentionally avoiding those options soas to not trivialize the problem. They want the moon coming down to be a story and an event, just waiting it out in the nether would be less interesting then potentially facing the consequences of the moon coming down on the overworld.

Theory: the moon will use gravity and pull blocks up to form the high mountains of 1.18, and the new caves are areas where blocks were moved from.

What's also amazing is how at the beginning of the season Joe saying "We might reset the things outside the continent." and Mumbo saying "So outside the continent we might, if you build stuff there, then it might not stay there." has, like the moon, grown into "they're probably going to reset the chunks outside the continent with the update." Amazing growth all around!

To be fair their bases are a lot smaller. Scar had a giant magical town if I remember correctly and Mumbo had a massive monolithic beast tower thing while Grian had a ginormous mansion. But in season 8, not only have they began working together to create the giganbase, but Scar’s base is just a couple of big wagons, Mumbos is a noticeably smaller monolothic structure with little interior work to be done, and Grians is literally inside of a mountain with no back.

I love how through the season Pearl has gone from being upside-down to practically being a goddess, with her size, being able to strike people down at will, and clearly not requiring oxygen due to seeing her dislodge the moon's orbit.

Lore aside, I think they're planning to transition into season 9. Considering a bunch of base finishing videos are popping up and they're turning their attention away from their bases, I think they could be wrapping it up.

My theory. The moon will get close and push the earth down moving bedrock down a few blocks. Causing caves to form all over the server. Then the hermits will succeed in pushing the moon back to its normal position. As it pulls away it will pull the earth and cause cliffs to form. All around the island.

The Hermits came up with the big moon, earthquakes, floating blocks and levitating because they are going to create a storyline where the Moon hits earth and destroys everything. They are doing this so they can update to 1.18 and to do that they have to reset the chunks. Wich is why most of the bases are already done. 🙂

For me it's quite clear that this is a way of the hermits to update the server to 1.18 while telling a story and making content. They usually update right after the release, as we can see from the previous season, in which they updated the server in a release candidate, even before the actual version came out.

My theory on earthquake: the Boatem has a boatem pole for which Impulse had removed the bedrock.. so the tectonic plates in the ground must have moved due to removal of bedrock causing seismic waves causing THE EARTHQUAKE. And yeah even cub fan has a great CANYON near the Boatem and that could also be a reason for it !

Fun fact: the earthquakes and gravity would be from the moon getting bigger/closer as at such a range it begins to affect gravity and disrupts tectonics all of which rely on the moon's orbit

My theory for the base's after the transtion... After the big moon etc. Some base will be ruined,some will be eatin by the ground,and doc's base will be submerged just like the atlantis with it's technology.

My hypothesis is that they changed their mind about how they'd go into 1.18, and they'll restart the whole thing. I think this because all the hermits seem to be rushing finishing their bases really early on. Mumbo's basically done with his base on 30 episodes, that's really fast compared to s6 and s7. Maybe they will straight up call it season 9, since S7 was so long they might want a shorter season for a bit of a break, but i dont think so, a lot of things like octagon, boatem, evil emporium, seem like they have to keep going, maybe they will do the same thing they did in S6, instead of reseting the world, they will move to the new generated chunks, this could be explained by part of the moon crashing into the old hermit land making it inhabitable.
