that room is sick. over the red on the bottom id add water sources to make it pop. with the way the lighting is i think that would look amazingly crazy and would stop the spawning!

A couple suggestions regarding the storage room xisumavoid, to solve your lighting problem, could there be red sandstone slabs under the cobble walls and hiding torches under there? And to end it on the far wall, maybe go through the mountain if possible, and see where it ends, then putting in a big window wall.

So lets guesstimate how many blocks he mined before he tells us... So he made 9 layers so far, each layer is 3 blocks high, so each layer contains (32 squared * 3), or 3072 blocks. Multiplying that by eight gives us 27648 blocks. Now we add the perimeter. The perimeter is 4 blocks wide, so the length of it is 4(4*36) which is 576, and there are 33 (8 layers mined out * 4 blocks per layer + 1 extra layer) layers in the perimeter, which is 19008 blocks. 19008 + 27648 = 46656 blocks! Lets see how close I am... **watches video** 41280 is the actual number! Only 5376 off, which is the equivalent of about 1 diamond pick with unbreaking 2. NEXT QUESTION! How many diamond picks did he use? Well an unenchanted diamond pick has 1562 uses, and the average lifetime of a pick with unbreaking is 1562(Level of Unbreaking + 1) uses long. So the amount of blocks he mined was 41280, so we divide that by 1562 to see how many levels of unbreaking you would need to mine it with one pick. That equates to a diamond pick with Unbreaking XXVI, or 26. How does that help us? Well, we just divide 26 by 4, which is how many times more a diamond pick with unbreaking 3 will last. That is about 7, so you would need 7 diamond pickaxes with unbreaking 3 to mine it out! So lets check it to see if it is right: 7(1562(3 + 1)) = 43736, and 43736 - 41280 = 2456, so you would have somewhere around 2456 uses on your last pick. Again, this is all an estimate. The more you know!

You should build a "Hall of the Fallen" for your now unrepairable tools. It would be a hallway with item frames to hold the tools and signs declaring the item's name and service. It would be a cool way to see how many tools you have gone through and what you used.

Xisuma, I have a great mini myth! If can you get extra slime balls from the looting sword trick with the splash potions, and if so, do you use potions of harming or healing? You do the trick by throwing the potion, then switch to your looting sword and it tricks the game into thinking you used a looting sword to kill the mobs. Anyways, I hope you use this in mini myths!

The storage room is looking great! I have a suggestion to make it even better. Try putting a piston facing up under the cobblestone wall pillars (where the acacia is) and then place a light source under the piston so it can shine through to make the room look bright.

Well, you dug out that whole area, which was 40x40xaround 35 height wise, which is 56,000. But since you didn't clear out some of the blocks for the platforms, each of those (there are 8) count as 32x32. Since there are 8, you can multiply it by 8 and get 8192. You subtract 8192 from 56,000 and get 47,808. Now for the final floor that was lower into the ground. Each floor is I think 4 or 5 blocks tall, so doing 32x32x4 gives you 4096. Adding 4096 to 47,808 gives you 51,904. Next, you have your mining strips. Each one will be around 140 blocks long I would guess since you are most likely trying to make a perimeter setup. 140x2 is 280, which you multiply by the amount of mines. There are 6 mines on each side, and 6x4 (for each side) is 24, multiplied by the number of layers that you put the mines on, which i would guess is all 8, and you get 192. Next you multiply 192x280 for the total number of blocks mined within the mines, and you get 53,760 (which is crazy!). You now add 53,760 and 51,904 and you get 105,664. Dang, this is a huge project.

Hey, Xisuma! I recommend you to use jack'o'lanterns (built in the floors) as lighting for slime farm. They are solid blocks so slimes can spawn on them, and they dont take any airblocks unlike torches.

Someone mentioned the gap above the red sandstone and you could easily fill that up with a randomized pattern of white/orange stained glass to allow the sandstone color to shine through but also add some depth to the area.
@rashkavar
@rashkavar 9 жыл бұрын
A possible solution for your quick transport method - I've developed a (really fast) slime escalator design that lets you bend the design around obstacles like your shop. The redstone supporting it is pretty simplistic, but I've done a basic video on it here on youtube, with some discussion about minimizing lag instability using minor modifications. Originally I was hoping for a staircase - you walk forward and each block forward bounces you up, but that had major timing issues - the new version with pusher pistons is a lot more stable.

My estimate for the blocks mined: Assuming you have 9 spawning floors, which you can fit in the space between the bedrock and y=40 (4 blocks per layer, ie. 3 air blocks plus floor. Top floor being at y = 38 if the bottom floor is at y = 6, so one block above bedrock). Also assuming your spawning pads are 32x32 and the extra 4 blocks on the edges is outside of that. That would give 40*40*36 = 57600 blocks for the whole bounding box. Then take away the pads 32*32*9 = 9216 => 57600 - 9216 = 48384. That doesn't account for any irregularities like the beacon or the tunnels on the sides, which I can't remember if you told how long they are. Btw, do slimes spawn outside the slime chunks due to the pack spawning, or do slimes even spawn in packs...? That would mean the farm might need to be slightly larges for maximum spawning space. To the wiki!... :)

Xisuma, using quartz stairs to save on resources is actually a waste of resources. For every four stairs, you need six blocks. That's a 33% decrease in the amount of blocks you have to work with, and you end up with the same visual result.

I figure the best use for an expired enchanted pick that can't be put in an anvil anymore, is to use it to "repair" picks that you buy from tool smiths, in a crafting table. That way, you can clear the enchantments that they come with (since they're usually fairly lame), and enchant them yourself. I don't actually think I've ever had to MAKE a diamond tool. :) Love the design of your store, btw. :)
