It is a new Decked Out Phase, so we are free to take some risks trying out the Hard difficulty. With only so-so success on Level 2, we fall back to medium to test out the treasure hunting strategy of our deck.

It's honestly got a lot of balance issues regarding relic prices and drops on lower floors. It's not worth doing anything other than easy when 20+ can drop on easy and under 20 can drop on medium. Plus the cards are overpriced. But it's definitely fun to watch. Would never work with a big player base though.

Over the decade of watching Etho, I have grown to like and appreciate the rarity of Etho videos. Both because of respect to Etho for having a life and not grinding out episodes for money, making each upload special in my eyes, and also for me having my own life and not nearly as much free time to watch yt videos. But, these special moments where we get 1-2 hours of Etho content... you bet I will stay up late just to watch the episode as soon as it comes out!! Never change Etho, and always only make videos you yourself enjoy, speaking for all the longtime fans those are the best videos ever!!

With Etho being stuck in the center ice circle because of all the blocked doors and water and the ravager being unable to move, or be aggroed to a different location, I feel like thats TOO much hazard because even Tango himself said there is "Always a way out" which in this case, youre completely prevented (obviously the ravager being in that location is completely left to RNG, but the fact that it cant be moved is the problem I see). Etho is extremely talented, so for the average player this seems pretty much impossible. I think that water hazard blocking the only open door needs to removed entirely(Although Tango is very fair and reimburses for really mucked up runs). Tango himself said the other day that the overall win rate was a bit too low. The addition of too many of these extra hazards might be simply too much. Loving the extreme amount of DO2 content though, this is such an amazing game Tango has made, and I love watching all of you get to enjoy his masterpiece. I hope Tango can find the perfect balance for everyone to enjoy the game for many runs to come!

I like the unforgiving hazard/clank. There's cards in the game that prevent it, and now the hermits can no longer ignore those cards. It felt like a major game mechanic was just mostly ignored for the first phase.
@Yirggzmb
@Yirggzmb 7 ай бұрын
I don't know if it was before run 2 in this video or not, but I know Tango made a change to clank where, if you're already at maximum clank, generating any more rolls over into triggering hazard. He specifically wants max clank to be a very dangerous and hard to escape situation. Not impossible, but just very hard. Players have been largely ignoring both clank and hazard as a threat, especially since the vex are so bad at keeping up with players

As a person whos played a lot of deck building games, I feel like a lot of hermits are not valuing the uncommon cards like evasion enough. Having 2 sneak cards does not equal 1 evasion card, because the same effect is drawn out twice as long when you could be drawing a second, better card. Having a smaller deck with more potent cards can is often better than a larger deck with worse cards, as long as its not super small. I Love the 2 hrs of decked out content!
@calvindang7291

At the moment, Etho's still running into the problem of running out of cards, though. I think once that becomes less of a problem preferring better cards will become better.
@hjandthewhale
@hjandthewhale 7 ай бұрын
The difference is that in a game like Dominion, the cards cycle back after you use them, so mediocre cards can be bad for the consistency of your deck. In Decked Out I don't think it's as bad to have filler cards because every card is getting used once by the end of the run
@jodiescrivener8005
@jodiescrivener8005 7 ай бұрын
The problem is the stumble cards. Stumble card get added to your deck every 2 minutes and the increase hazard and clank if played .so it's better to have more cards because the moment you get low on card your hazard will start dramatically increasing drastically shortening the run
@CommunicatorJosef
@CommunicatorJosef 7 ай бұрын
@@jodiescrivener8005 that actually makes a lot of sense I forgot about that, I still would be interested to see a smaller more potent deck from one of the hermits just to see how they do.
@flightofthejellyfish
@flightofthejellyfish 7 ай бұрын
I'm finding it super hard to compute how it works out with a pure random draw. It feels like narrowing down your deck to ensure better options doesn't work when you don't get the option. Then come the stumbles. Best plan is to dilute them as much as possible. Normal deck building heuristics may not apply here. EDIT: Addendum: Pretty sure Tango built this imagining it would work like a deck building game. Don't think it does.

I am very excited to watch Hermits realize that editing your deck for runs will be super important. There's still a lot of maxing out all commons right now since it's early stages, but in almost all deckbuilding games a larger deck doesn't always mean better (For example, when players really need their treasure cards to play but have so many other cards, the only way to boost an early play of those cards is to have a smaller deck. Staying in the dungeon longer isn't necessarily the optimal play). Naturally Etho noticed this and is already planning ahead for those runs, awesome to hear.

I've just finished this mega episode, and I very much enjoyed it! I really hope this longer form content can find mass-appeal, but I know there will always be a large set of devoted fans that will gobble up any and all decked out content made. I'm part of that group, please keep publishing full decked out runs, this was awesome!

Its hard to pick who i think will win cos everyone is doing so good but Etho's runs have been my favorite so far because its that perfect combination of skill, recklessness and intelect that has me hooked!

Editing decked out runs would not do it justice. It kinda ruins all the work Tango has put in this magnificent creation. Its like an entire different game then minecraft once they get in the minecarr

Awesome video Etho. It was not too much decked out at all 8-). Please keep uploading all your runs, if they are too sleepy when you edit them, you could try uploading a midweek runs and a end of week runs (you do have a strategy meeting with us there anyways). That way you will not have to stay awake through so much of your own content 8-). It's good to hear you are happy with the changes tango made to the balancing!

@Duskkit
@Duskkit 7 ай бұрын
@@elipandaman I wouldn't do that personally, but I do sometimes play Minecraft with both the ingame songs and my own music playlist going. As someone who often gets sound triggered headaches, I find those rare days when I can handle things that would normally cause sensory overload quite exhilarating. When the songs happen to line up well enough that they sound better together than apart, that's extra cool! But, of course, dissonance is more common.

@@Tortue_Cyborg from what I gathered, it’s a mean little trick Tango included; your berries can fall into the powdered snow block, meaning you have to move into the bush and take damage to get your berries 😂 It’s similar to the berry bush on the other side of level 1, where a water stream will make you move into the bush and take damage if you’re not careful
