It has nothing to do with keeping sand rare cuz he doesn't even benefit from sand being rare. He's literally using sand payments to make a meme of obtaining sand by any means other than having to grind for it, now that end portal duping has been discouraged. That's literally his entire content material -- "grinding" without having to manually grind. Making something rare has never been his agenda this season or in any of his recent seasons. Yes, he could burn the sand to create an artificial demand, or to inflate scar's monopoly, but again -- that doesn't benefit him. but that was the point of my comment. to highlight the potential opportunities for content these coincidences bring to this season.

I'm replying because everything all the other people have replied to you make sense and you're stuck in a loop trying to justify a misguided notion about why doc wants sand. the hermits all agree on what is and what isn't "in the spirit of the game". especially considering that hermit permits are exclusive, and the spirit behind people working to interact to get the permits they want and be committed to maintaining those shops, sand duping is directly contrary to the spirit of this season. Every season has different goals and it's very obvious from how the hermits have approached this season that everyone has agreed that making the most of early game mechanics like horses and giving value to creative forms of interacting (the mail system), etc that discussions have already been made regarding what is and isn't in the spirit of the game. sand duping would literally make one hermit's permit useless. That is completely against the spirit of the entire season and scenario they are trying to create. there is no way sand duping will be encouraged at all. and it's unlikely that docm wanting sand as a payment is a bid to change that. and again, your argument "if it costs a lot of sand to get wood products, they'll sand dupe". It would be a lot simpler, more fcontent and a lot more in the spirit of the season to just get the wood themselves or make a wood farm themselves than to sand dupe. we can look forward to the shenanigans coming from the hermits without injecting agenda. especially if it's circularly illogical

I think you should lean into it. Build MORE houses. In different orientations. Some rotated 90 degrees, some rotated 180 degrees, some upside down, etc., each with their own color palette... perhaps one in netherrack? The mailbox having its own house is really funny. You should do it. Doc being a non-native English speaker is so funny, because you can never tell if jokes like "big wood" are intentional. I also love how luck resulted in the potential of an incredible storyline with a forced alliance between rivals.

I think impulse is talking about homesteading/squatters rights laws. Which as I recall is along the lines of if you are openly living on some land or in a house you do not own and are not renting for several years and the proper owner does not chase you out it becomes yours. Of course usually that set of laws is applied to a fence line or something similar. On the basis that the guy who is doing all the maintnence can just have it. And of course the reason those rules were made in the first place is because of land rushes.

My recommendation for the pink house is simple. Clear out all of the water, tear out one wall of the main structure, add some supportt pillars, and use it to store and maintain your tractors. The small side room can be used for tool storage. Of course, you'll need a sturdy beam up high, to install a chain hoist. Tractor engines are heavy. 🤠👍

Shop idea: Call the woodstore DRIFTWOOD LOGS. You can turn the inside into a nice sandy beach because Doc just loves his sand and the interior can tie in with the Big Salmon theme. If you really want to annoy Doc, LACHS is german for salmon, so there's a logs - lachs joke in there somewhere.

Suggestion for the wood collective - an open air, five-pointed dome. Each point of the dome is made of one of the respective permit's logs in the form of a tree. Each tree curves inward, meeting in the middle, creating a canopy mashup in the center with hanging lights. Five permits, five trees.

Use the lean-to on the side of the barn either to store an extra tractor or your logs or something like that. It's not really suited for soft goods like hay bales. Hay bales of likely go on the upper level of the barn, I grew up with as a kid we had a Barn that had a window on the upper level and hay bales would be delivered by a truck with a special conveyor arm that would bring them up to the second level, and there were sliding doors at various points on the floor that allowed us to drop hey bills down to the ground level in positions that are much more convenient for us to bring to the horses.
