Hero Barbers Rescue Toddler Who Ran Into Traffic

Two Connecticut barbers are being hailed as heroes for saving a little girl from running into a busy intersection. Apparently, the toddler slipped away from her mom at a bus stop down the street from the barbershop. The mother reportedly took her eye off her daughter for just a second and did not even realize she was gone. Osvaldo Lugo and Rafael Santana were taking care of customers when they ran out the door to save the toddler. Inside Edition’s Les Trent has more.

People love to make fun of child leashes and be like “is your kid a dog?” But being a parent is hard and no one’s perfect. One little slip up from your attention and a kid is running off somewhere as fast as they can. Tethers can mitigate these risks. They should be normalized!

So, she didn't realize her daughter was even missing for a few MINUTES until the barbers located the mom. Taking your eyes off a child for 1 second is understandable, but not knowing the child is even missing for a few minutes is not acceptable.

Exactly…that’s what I just wrote as well. If she only looked away for 1 second she would have seen the child running away and chased after her and probably caught her…but she’s no where. I used to have to chase after my son because he’s autistic and used to take off running if he got out of my grip….that happened in 1 second and I was always right behind him tying to catch him….then I finally bought a child leash so he couldn’t do that anymore. I’m sure she’s been told before but this could be her first big lesson about the danger of that, as this actually is something that you learn as a toddler. There could also be a developmental or intellectual disability… my friends non verbal 4 year old with autism wouldn’t/doesnt know any better, running is just fun for him atp.
