She is so lucky! Very glad she is safe now! Very sorry for the person who lost their life and the one injured. When you have snow that has sat for a few days, warmed and refrozen then you have a heavy snow fall on top of it that is a perfect recipe for avalanches. I'm surprised at the people on the news saying "we didn't have a hint it could be a problem"! We started skiing in the 70's around the time of a major avalanche at Heavenly Valley. They are not uncommon in that area and everyone should be informed about the risk and if you haven't been do your research, check what the conditions have been before you go up. The person that can best look out for you is you!
