They don’t have police reports, just eye witness accounts which can’t be valid yet it’s the law, newsmen can lose their credentials so they manipulate their words. In the eyes of the courts there is no hard evidence of the altercation and the newsman knows this hence the very little details he provides, hence the manipulation of words such as the one you quoted. The reporter’s statement of “As is why the OD officer opened fire.” Seriousy??? One of the subjects involved in a verbal altercation decided to introduce a firearm into a verbal argument. The officer responded appropriately in preventing that person from injuring anyone with the replica firearm. Even though it was later found to not be a real firearm, the law enforcement officer is not expected to wait and be shot or allow someone else to be shot before being proactive in protecting others.

Unless the cop actually saw a gun or heard the man mention a gun before he intervened, it could be possible that the cop escalated the verbal dispute among two parties into a shooting. You have shots going through store windows and he could have possibly hit an innocent civilian. Its pretty rare that a cop is ever held accountable for a bad shooting but lets see what happens.
