At the current rate in which the books are being released Howland might as well be a figure of legend . Since despite being prominently talked about in the books, he has yet to appear as a living person. Even the show only had him as a character from the past and not actually appear in the show

I have severalt questions I'd love to hear GRRM explain. I Dont know where to ask them, so it gonna be here :D Howland Reed, why was he with Ned Stark in Roberts Rebillion,at the tower of joy, and before that the Turney of Harranhal(If he were the Knight of the laughing tree)? Why werent he (Or any other Reed's) werent by Robbs side, or Jon Snow's side at Battle of the Bastards. Or at the Battle of Winterfell i seaon 8, that might very well have been the end og the world!! - He must have known something??

They ignored/skipped Howland Reed's importance for the show, so he was not included in anything important except the flashback at the tower of joy. In the books, Howland Reed was at the Tourney of Harrenhal by accident, he just happened to be in the area at the time. While he was there he became friends with the Stark children. He then marched with his friend Ned Stark to war and joined him at the Tower of joy. Later when Robb is King, he sent Howland a message to remain in the neck and defend the north from invasion, so that's why he was not with Robb. Now that Robb is dead, Howland is fighting a guerrilla campaign in the neck and will probably become more important in the next book.

To be fair the tower of joy was years later some of which were war filled so it's not too far fetched to think he improved especially marching with ned who was a skilled fighter ned likely had his men or he himself trained him

Jesus Gonzalez I don’t think it is that long between the tourney at Harrenhall and the start of Roberts rebellion. Events happen surprisingly quickly at this point in the history. But I can see that hanging around Ned would get him a lot of experience

Martin said that Howland and Ned gained a shit-ton of experience fighting throughout Robert's Rebellion after the Tourney at Harrenhall man. Not too too far fetched to say he could've held his own, especially considering it was like 7 against 3 or something like that.
