i still stand by the biggest mistake the show made (amongst many!!) was stripping peter of his original empathic mimicry ability and limiting it to one-via-touch-only replacement...especially when he spent 90% of the time just having flight - probably the shittiest power. basically taking the most awesome character they created and neutering him almost to uselessness. they could have gone so many other routes - e.g. if he got too powerful he grew unstable and unable to control it, meaning he became unexpectedly dangerous and had to learn limitations...when to switch on and switch off his empathy...OR maybe having too many damaged his DNA and caused health issues, so he had to learn to "reset" it - either starting from scratch again or being able to shed certain powers he no longer needed, effectively trading them for a different one, say a max of 5 or so. that would have solved the "all powerful god" conundrum they wrote themselves into whilst still maintaining peter's epicness. especially because the "all powerful god" conundrum didn't seem to matter a rat's ass with sylar, who somehow was allowed to keep his....despite him and peter being the flip parallel 2 sides of the same coin for one another....

I feel like this show attracted the wrong audience weirdly, people always expected badass powers but in the end it’s a character drama. The ordinary aspects of the characters made them interesting to me

Exactly! People complain about it not showing super epic fights but at the time the show was created they barely even had enough budget to show Nathan flying half the time. The powers were never the point of the show, and while that aspect was enjoyable and pulled me in more than a plain drama probably would have, I never lost sight of the fact that it’s about the characters.

The original plan was for each season to be self-contained and each new season follows the stories of a new group of people. I wish they'd have stuck with that because the first season is a masterpiece. Most of the characters they introduced after that couldn't compare to the original characters and the story got too convoluted.

the problem was they never wrote "character drama" properly. Our characters were always separated in their our own weird storylines that only involved saving the world or their powers. how many times did peter and claire had simple one on one chat about their lives? hardly any.

@Red Gambit, Nah Hiro actually ended ip going back far enough to the point when his mother was still alive. He then discovered his mothers power to heal other people and animals with a simple kiss (also that she was the first holder of the catylist) she healed Hiro's brain tumor and he re-gained full control of his abilities.

This show should've worked towards the timeline of future Hiro. Instead, we got crap. Season 3/4 or a latter season should've made Hiro the samurai stealth time travel ninja like we saw in season 1. The characters should've been developed towards that storyline. That would've been epic.

They kind of did point towards that future. When Hiro goes to the future and Peter fight Sylar, Sylar states,"When I killed your brother he'd already turned on his own kind." In which Nathan did turn against his own kind.

Well it kind of went that way anyway. Sylar says nathan turned on his own kind. He did. Hiro gets fixed & continues on his way. Sylar/peter get over themselves & get that monstrous power sylar (as well as peter sometimes) has under control & become friends like how we see it with sylar & his son. Claire exposes abilities against everyones wishes & is probably headed down the path of villainy. There are really only 3 things left undone. What did ando actually do when he supposedly kills hiro? How did peter get his scar & get his powers fixed? (He has to get the scar before the powers are fixed otherwise regen wont allow the scar to form.) Who the hell is the mother to noah gray? While a lot of evidence points to claire...cuz ya know named after noah & in the bennet house, plus sylar is still referring to peter as family in the future which a relationship with claire would actually produce....there is no real proof of anything. The only bone we got out of that was that peters scar was most likely caused by hiros sword.

i think the rest of heroes should have been that peter got the power to absorb more than 1 power and him and sylar battle for hundreds of years untill peter decides to go back in time and kills syler in the fire but isnt able to get the power formula so he cant fly out to safty and dies.It would be sad but then peter would have died a hero.

Cuz arthurs type of mimicry is worse than even sylars. If peter copies adams power, adam is fine for example but arthur killed him with a single touch cuz adam was old & aged rapidly when he lost his power. What if peter did that to claire years down the line? Besides peter does get his original mimicry back somehow when he gets the scar but we are never shown how, for the powers or the scar.

Its not too bad. The beginning is weird cuz of the whole matt/sylar/nathan thing. Could have bee explained better. But once those episodes are past it gets better. However if you are obsessed with zach quinto then a lot of excellent sylar lines are in those episodes! Worth it just for those lol
