The answer to the nexus event is actually in the scene with Sif. When she says “you are alone..and always will be”. That is the path Loki has always taken. But during the apocalypse there, Sylvie and Loki were not alone. They were facing the end together. They were united and for the first time in their existence had someone that not only was standing beside them, but they allowed themselves to believe truly that they were not alone anymore. Something that until that point had never occurred to them or they’ve never really trusted as all their existence they’ve been told they’re alone.

The acting is off the charts. Hiddleston's portrayal of grief once Mobius was pruned, walking down the hallway is truly moving (Loki's first human friend obliterated.) Marvel has me screaming at the t.v. screen. Nice reaction fellas.

The real emotional punch of the time prison scene: that moment wasn't his most painful memory to relive because of the knee to the groin (he's taken much worse beatings, on screen even) but because of what Sif tells him. "You are alone, and you always will be." which strikes at his greatest fear in life. That's just heartbreaking.

Actually I think they sent him there to reinforce their sacred timeline version of Loki. What a Loki should be. Alone. It backfired a bit I think, as he started to realize what was up combined with the questioning from Mobias. But the intent was to reinforce the message of his singular existence. The fact it was painful was probably just a bonus.

My favourite theory for what Sylvie’s Nexus Event was is that she was going to be a good person When the TVA came for her she was playing a game where a Valkyrie, a female warrior, saved Asgard, her reaction to seeing someone in distress in the lobby was demanding someone help him and knowing she was adopted from a young age would prevent the issues that pushed Loki over the edge

@@smchp2007 Silvie is an ongoing unresolved nexus variant. When she escaped Ravona's custody around age 10, she presumably evaded capture/pruning in random timelines before figuring out she could more comfortably hide in apocalypse events without detection. A bit of sloppy character writing here but during this time she self-taught her magic/fighting abilities and planned out her revenge on the time keepers. She starts out by hunting down minutemen and stealing their reset charges, which is where this show starts.

Loki self-service has always been a mask for his ultimate fear of being alone. Loki is layered. He has always felt love but not felt safe enough to ever express it consistently. Loki loves his family, even though he has hurt them. He is ultimately self-destructive. But he has always felt love and likely feels regret about the things he has done. That conflict in him is what makes him so fascinating.

Just like they mentioned, Loki cutting Sif's hair comes directly from a story from norse mythology, in which he leaves her bald in her sleep and, after being threatened by her husband Thor, promised to get a wig made of gold from the dwarves from Nidavellir. He then convinced the sons of Ivaldi to participate in a competition of making the best gifts to the gods of Asgard, in which he included Sif's new hair, by saying that their rivals, the brothers Brokk and Eitri, would participate as well. He plans to do the same with Brokk and Eitri, but they suspect of the god of mischief, only agreeing when Loki bets his own head in case that they win. Not wanting to lose the bet, Loki sabotaged the dwarven brothers by shapeshifting into a fly and distracting them when they were making the last gift, Thor's hammer, making it imperfect, which is the reason why its cable is so short for a war hammer. The sons of Ivaldi crafted Sif's new hair, Freyr's magic ship Skíðblaðnir and Odin's spear Gungnir, while Brokk and Eitri crafted Freyr's golden boar Gullinbursti, Odin's multiplying golden ring Draupnir and Thor's short-handled war hammer Mjolnir. Despite Loki's sabotage, the gods declared Brokk and Eitri winners, but the trickster managed to spare himself by using a loophole and pointing out that he had only promised his head, and in order to get it, the dwarves would have to damage his neck, which wasn't included in the bet. Annoyed, the brothers got satisfaction by "just" sewing Loki's mouth shut instead.

At this point, I don't even want to hazard a guess or agree/disagree with anyone, this is IMO one of my absolute favourite MCU contents out there (movies included). Who'd have thought - - The Sacred Timeline would be bombed in Ep2, only for it to not matter at all - Loki catching feelings for a Loki - Timekeepers to be revealed and disposed of in a single episode - So many Loki variants, including the Classic Loki Maybe one of the KZbinrs/Redditors did correctly predict some/all or this, but I have been happily oblivious and shocked out of my mind at every single episode. 4:25 It's not because they touched, because they touched several times before. It's because they formed a bond, and Loki's are supposed to be alone. They're supposed to cause chaos and be lonesome, always causing mischief for attention. The moment they bonded, they weren't alone and were inspired to do/be more. It's the same reason the TVA took Sylvie as a child: she was inspired by The Valkyrie to be/do good, which bucks the trend that Mobius told Loki was his purpose: to cause chaos and destruction so that others can be inspired to be their best selves. The moment Sylvie decided to be a good person, the TVA couldn't allow it.

I suspect that both the reset charges and the pruning staffs don't 'destroy' things, they just remove them. There's some 'cutting-room floor' dimension where all the variants and bits of timelines get dumped, which is why there's a janky Avengers' Tower in the background. I expect there are roving bands of variants, grouped by type, scrabbling for survival in this endless junkyard dimension.

I hope and pray that, when Loki burns it all down, he starts with Mobius' desk. Because you can see the moment he decides that he will destroy the TVA for the right reasons. Loneliness was definitional for Loki. It wasn't until his brother accepted him in Ragnarok, and spoke of his love for him that Prime!Loki changed. And it wasn't until meeting Sylvie that both Variant!Loki and Sylvie changed too. And Mobius I think helped to finally crystalize it all.
