@@pranjoshi absolutely. people hate when Disney spoon feed them with easy black and white story plots, political agendas, ideologies, and terrible comedy, but when finally there's a more mature approach to Star Wars people still find a reason to complain. I guess these types of stories a for a more mature audience and not your typical childish casual fan.

My money is on Vel and Cinta breaking from the rest of the group because the heist isn't the actual mission. There have been a few throwaway lines about an Imperial engineer coming to the valley to assess it for the site of a new airbase; Vel and Cinta are gonna either assassinate him or pick him up as he defects. The heist is a diversion to make the assassination/defection not look like an assassination/defection, the credits is just a bonus.

Welcome back, Hector. The comment about maturity in the film making is very on point. It doesn’t play down to the audience, or underestimate their ability to comprehend story. You are very clear in what you see. Mature audience. That same people are unable to fully receive it is their own limitations. They either will come to it or they won’t. Rogue One ripped my heart apart. This is really so refreshing.

You guys are absolutely not the only ones who have been asking for a show like this. I have been BEGGING for a show like this. This show truly feels like every character has their own story, and I think that line is the thesis statement for the entire series: "Everyone has their own rebellion". We're watching individual lives and stories collide, and it gives such a rich depth to not just this series, but what is essentially the roots of what launched this franchise, like you guys said. I hope that continues to be the thesis for Star Wars going forward. It could literally be the new franchise slogan. There's a flavor in Andor that was introduced in Rogue One and riffed on in Jedi: Fallen Order that feels like it's on full display here. It's less about hitting all the notes of any classical monomyth or hero's journey, and more about what feel like real people in this world, effected deeply by the events at hand, which themselves are treated as the snowballing consequences of real people making real choices. It makes the weight of sorrow and turmoil even heavier, but it makes watching those embers of rebellion starting to glow brighter bit by bit feel even MORE impactful, because you have truly felt the gravity of how much strength it takes for each of these people to cling to that hope, given what they've each gone through to come this far. I genuinely hope we get more of this style of Star Wars story telling in the future. I've always paid attention to and for the most part enjoyed Star Wars, but it hasn't ever really HOOKED me (outside of a handful of things) the way I know it has for some of my friends (Star Trek and Gundam have been my ride or die sci-fi sagas since I was younger). That said, this is probably the first thing since Fallen Order that I have been beating down my hardcore Star Wars friends' doors to talk and gush about. This is what I needed from Star Wars. I want more boots on the ground stuff, but I also want to see Jedi/force user stories told with this level of character work, tone, and visual style. I want more characters we barely know or have never met to get this level of exploration and build up. To become flagship Star Wars characters that represent the vast amount of stories worth telling that could be happening at any given time or place in the galaxy. I want to continue to take the time to get invested in everyone's rebellions.

I still hope for a kind of "Band of Brothers, but Star Wars"-show. A show parallel to the OT (or slightly before it), but not one following the big names and heroes, but the guys in the dirt, the trenches and on the front lines. Something like in the novel "Battlefront: Twighlight Company". Or hell, maybe a show that follows Inferno Squad, but before the events of the BF2-campain, where they actually fought for the Empire because they believed in it, before parts of them defected.

I think the daughter's attitude is more Mon Mothma's fault than the father's. Mon Mothma has clearly chosen her work over her family life for many years, so the daughter has naturally chosen the father who is present over the mother who isn't. Mon Mothma has kept both her husband and daughter out of the resistance, so they are naturally going to feel more sympathetic with the Empire. I'm betting that in the end the daughter ends up informing on her mom.

@@hectorminator The husband and daughter live in the heart of the Empire, knowing only the official propaganda. Mon Mothma 'protects' them by not involving them with the Resistance, so they have no idea that there's anything wrong with how things are. @hectorminator
@hectorminator 2 жыл бұрын
@@misteryman526 Yes, that can be how propaganda works, brainwashing people from the truth, but you started this convo by assuming Mon Motha was solely to blame for her daughter's relationship with her, assuming her husband is more present in their kids' life, and assuming that would lead people to become sympathetic towards a totalitarian government, which I disagree with. Too many assumptions, I think. We'll have to see how it plays out in the show.
@benjaminroe311ify

@@misteryman526 I agree. Perhaps it is accurate to that her husband likely supports the empire because it protects his rich status quo and his comfort at this time. Also Imperial propoganda blinds him (He doesn't want to see). The daughter might not give a wiff about the empire or not she just wants her Mom to be authentic and senses that she is not and being used. She might actually sympathize with a rebellion if she knew the stakes and what is truly going on but is likely much in the dark because A) Imperial propoganda and B)Her mom is protecting her.

It certainly has the chance to be THE BEST writing in Star Wars. Which I thought would always belong to Empire. I watched Empire last night again and paid very close attention to the writing and I would say Empire beats this so far but ONLY because it's a complete story with the heavy gravitas of Luke meets Yoda and Luke duels Vader. But Andor as the story develops more with higher and higher stakes could eclipse Empire in terms of writing. To me the writing so far is superior in Andor to anything. But it's not even halfway through season 1 quite yet. So basically I am agreeing with you. If Andor holds serve. It will be the best.

When Opposed to the Tie fighter's is first seen in Star Wars it's described as "small" by Obie Wan, then Han chases until he is snagged by the Death Star's tractor beam. A New Hope makes the Tie look week and Andor makes it look unformidable. This shows the growth of the Rebels. Also The Millennium Falcon and Han Solo are bad ass. last part is a given. Thanks

I think Mon Mothma's family is getting a lot of shit, if you put yourself in their shoes they have an absentee mother who sets up a lot of weird "fake" charities (which she's using to funnel money to the rebellion) but they have no context for what she's doing. She just looks like a mother that doesn't spend time with her family, supports the Empire, and sneaks around all the time. Her husband probably assumes she's been cheating on him. I don't blame them for the way they act, context is everything.

Two possible writers' oversights: (1) Who was supposed to be the original 4th man of the fake patrol? The show has already demonstrated Imp patrols are four-man teams, Cassian was not anticipated, the two women and the lieutenant already have designated roles, so whom did they expect to fill the fourth position on the Rebel cell's fake patrol? (2) Planets have their own rotation, and yet the Rebel cell at the dam and Luthen's antiquities shop on Coruscant share an end of day/start of night. While it might be feasible that two planets would sometimes align just right, the suggestion is that they share a day/night cycle. A common clock is one thing. For storytelling purposes you can imply a common galactic clock (not getting into the relativity of time for the moment), but the rotations around different suns will have different day/night cycles. Also, love that TIE fighters are incredibly intimidating again.

Ive loved this show, my friend and I had a debate about what Star Wars is and was and I feel like this is Star Wars pure. He expects more action and what not but like y’all said you have to develop the characters to care about the action later…anyways thanks for the content as always take care homies !

It's funny how Rogue One's main problem is this show's greatest strength. Which is taking the time to slowly develop these characters, so that we care what happens to them. Don't get me wrong, I love Rouge One, but watching each main character die one by one didn't leave much of an impact because I didn't know them well enough.

Schedule: the common root is the Greek word skhida “splinter”, which contains a “K”… The word “schedule” itself was borrowed into English from Old French cedule (no “K”), which, in turn, is based on Latin schedula (pronounced with a “K”). It seems that it is not possible to argue that any variant is etymologically more appropriate than the other.

19:00 YES, Rings of Power and Andor have both been accused of being slow, BUT with Rings I actually stopped caring about the characters so I don't care and don't even feel like there is much of a point in watching the show anymore -- in contrast with Andor where the tension is building and building like to the payoff in episode 3 when a lot of crap went down, and now it's building up to that again for episode 6 with the three episode arcs.

I liked Games of Thones but i was surprised that it was such a phenomenon with the world. You could argue. "Nothing happens" is all talking. But no it had excellent writing and character. I liked it but was baffled it went mainstream.

Loving the story building so far. I think Nemick is going to die during the heist making him a martyr for the rest of them team. Seems like the young, bright eyed, optimistic character that everyone in the group likes always dies bringing them together.

On your point of people needing big boy pants, I think Jay on pReview'd nailed it recently: by "adult Star Wars," these big kids mean they want more violence, not mature storytelling.

Andor is a DEEP, next-level, redefinition of "fan service". This is for the most hardcore fans IMO...because it's a dense, character-driven, SLOW burn. This show has me sucked in, and because I'm a die-hard, not casual, fan ...I am already invested, hugely curious about the building of the rebellion in fragments and willing (eager?) to go on a deep dive. It's the "micro" (so internal, so small)... that we almost ignore the "macro" (fate of the galaxy) and casual fans will be bored. But if you love the minutiae and emotion...this is fabulous.

Not sure if the division is between 'hardcore' and 'casual' fans. I would consider myself a casual fan and I love this. On the other hand, I've seen some who apparently falls under 'hardcore' fans who find this slow... I think it's more dependent on how one sees Star Wars, what it means to them. For those who, and I don't mean this in any negative way, sees Star Wars through... I'll call it their 'child' eyes, they probably enjoy it best if it brings them back to their childhood, a sense of awe and wonder... While a show like Andor would appeal more to those who don't mind taking a more mature approach.

I agree with both of you. I DO feel that there are not many Hardcore Star Wars fans that if they gave this a real chance would dislike it. That meaning. You're not really a real hardcore fan if you just watch all the content and go the Disney's galaxies edge etc and you know you like Yoda and Baby Yoda. I mean... there is so much lore and world built in Star Wars creative Universe with the additions of The Clones Wars, Rebels, The Bad Batch etc etc etc. That if someone hasn't seen those... I don't consider them hardcore fans. They don't REALLY know the Star Wars universe. But to me... even though I don't like all entries into the Star Wars Canon and even strongly dislike some entries, (Looking at you The Last Jedi) If you don't know the points of lore and are missing points of character development from key shows and stories... then you don't get to opinionate and your opinion be respected by true hardcore Star Wars fans as to whether Andor is good or not. It's like someone telling me their opinion about Darth Maul leading a black market crime cartel at the end of Solo... but they haven't seen Clone Wars or Rebels. Or someone asking me who's that? When Ahsoka shows up in the Mandalorian. "Hardcore fan" of course is subjective. But there are people that live and breath this stuff (I happen to be one of them) and I think most of US DO love Andor.

I'd like to thank Augustin for his rant. People have become so utterly spoiled and entitled when it comes to media, especially television. It was, to me, a mistake to put Daredevil in the trailer, because She-Hulk became the "where's Daredevil?" show, and it soured the entire series. Nothing irks me more than when a slow-burn is called boring or uneventful. I am honestly enjoying Rings of Power because, after character development, my favorite thing in cinema is worldbuilding ; of which both LotR and Andor are doing very well and both accounts. Also, WHY DONT YOU GUYS HAVE 500K ALREADY!? The world makes no sense
