I loved that they showed the Infinity Stones as useless jewels. In the comics, they only work inside the universe in which they were created (and the TVA exists outside all of that) so that totally makes sense. I never grew to like the dark world unfortunately. There are elements I like, but I do find it a bit too cookie cutter in terms of plot and characters are a tad bit generic, no offence. Having said that, I think the idea of Malekith is very intetesting. We know from Ragnarok that the Asgardians were once an imperialist war mongering nation that conquered other realms. It would be a lot more interesting to show Malekith's perspective of that like show a young Malekith watch his people get eviscerated by the Asgardians and become a freedom fighter who slowly becomes more and more radicalized till he becomes the nihilistic villain in the dark world. I also feel the same way about Ronan. I get that he was always meant to fit the role of the generic villain but I think a tad bit more time spent on his backstory as to how and why he became so radicalized would've been better. But thats just me, I like the villains 🤣.

I think that in all of history the infinity stones were involved with some branching timelines like Loki. So when the person is removed from the timeline with a stone it ends up at the TVA. It wears its inspirations on its sleeve, focuses on the characters’ emotions and arc thus far, along with giving us strange spectacle on a massive scale like Wandavision, and (based on promotional footage and my own speculation) will give us the best action for Loki both creatively and choreography-wise like Falcon/Captain America in Falcon and Winter Soldier. It's not that the Inifinty Stones do not hold power, I think it's the realization that they hold power within a particular context of a particular universe. And TVA works outside of every universe and it's a way of thinking about things from a different perspective. This show is going to be deeper than I first realized. And it's going to be so enjoyable.

30:20 what cap did in his past is ignored because he is the one who gives Sam shield which is supposed to happen in the sacred timeline. He becomes new captain america of the future via "old" steve Rogers. Hence they didn't interfere because he still had a part in the sacred timeline, but we don't know what happened to steve rogers after he gave the shield to sam, maybe then TVA apprehended him.

I wasn't surprised that the infinity stones didn't work because I assumed it was like the comics where they only work in their universe. And I assumed the TVA was located outside the universe. But most people seemed really shocked by this moment.

I will say, I do think this is the best of the three first episodes. But only because we do know Loki the best, so we really are truly invested. Wanda is personally, my favorite MCU character so I was excited for people to see how incredible that character is, but also how incredible Elizabeth Olsen is herself. She's been so overlooked until that show, but she's brought me to tears the most in the films. Between her losing her brother, then watching her struggle with killing those innocent people in Lagos, to her killing Vision. She's been incredible, so WandaVision made me excited for people to get on board with that character. This on the other hand, excites me in a broader way because this seems like a bigger story that's more connected with Multiverses than the other two shows because Loki himself is already a different version of Loki! So this episode had a bit more room to breathe because we do know Loki so well, we've already been introduced to potential multiverses, and we're now acclimated to the stranger side of the MCU. So this benefits from all of that.

The infinity stones means nothing to the TVA to the point that they’re used as office supplies. There’s always a bigger fish.
@ryanhalawani26373 жыл бұрын
And that very idea is so crippling to a narcissist like this version of Loki who is so obsessed with attaining power. The notion that there is a level of power that he will never truly achieve must be driving him insane.
@Serenity1133 жыл бұрын
@@ryanhalawani2637 not only that it’s also his place in the universe or whatever means nothing. His whole idea of being a ruler means very little. He wasn’t born to rule, his whole purpose is to bring together these certain people, bring out the best from his brother and a means to end for thanos and then to die that’s it. He also learns that his family did actually loved him but he was just too angry to see it.
@ryanhalawani26373 жыл бұрын
@@Serenity113 Yeah most definitely. That why my favourite scene in the episode was his interrogation/therapy scene with mobius. So cool to see him get cut down like that but also finally have a moment of genuine introspection. The idea of him realizing his only purpose in the grand scheme of things is to bring out the best others like the avengers and be the villain of the story is so cool and really reminds me of Mr Glass from the film unbreakable. It captures the existential dread of the meta awarness of the fact that not only are you not the protagonist of your own story but you are also the antagonist on top of that.
@Serenity1133 жыл бұрын
@@ryanhalawani2637 existential dread seems to be the theme of this episode lol. That scene with the infinity stones and him watching his future of how he died reminded me those posters of the universe with the caption saying “you are here.” With an arrow pointed at a tiny dot amongst of other tiny dots. It humbles you a bit but for Loki and his narcissism it’s gotta be like a huge punch in the gut. Lol

In the comics, it's established that the Infinity Gems/Stones only work in their own universe(s); they're powerless anywhere outside it. If those stones came from universes/timelines that were erased, then paperweights would be about all they're good for now.
@ryanhalawani26373 жыл бұрын
Since the first trailers I've thought that the statues of the time-keepers in the TVA look remarkably similar to Kang's look from the comics. In the comics Kang has countless alternate versions of himself from different timelines that eventually form a council of Kangs. Maybe, this is a stretch, but this council of Kangs are in fact the time-keepers in the show and the TVA isn't protecting the timeline but is in fact controlling it with an iron fist, thus Kang would have finally achieved his goal of conquering all of time. This would mean that the show would tie directly into the new Antman and the Wasp film where Kang is set to make his first MCU appearance. It is also worth noting that one of the characters in the first episode, judge Renslayer, is tied directly to Kang in the comics. If that is the case, perhaps the twist of the show will be that the Loki variant Mobius and Loki prime are hunting is in fact a freedom fighter trying to stop the council of Kangs and end their oppressive rule over the timeline.

My take is more "what is power to those that don't CARE about it?" Guys working towards the world as it is have no real motivation to fundamentally alter it in a major way, so why would they care about the means to do so?

People everywhere are saying they don't work in other universes/realities but that's eactly what happened in Endgame. The Avengers created a split reality to get the stones, although stitching it back as well. Magic doesn't work in the TVA is more appropriate.
