All the First Age elf heroes should be Resistant to Magic for sure - they survived Morgoth. Elrond for sure deserves as much Will as Gildor and the Mouth of Sauron. Gildor can get an extra Might point, sounds great. Glorfindel is always going to be put in a box in some way. To give others some play, he should only be an Independent tier but have Mighty Hero and a cost increase - he acts as a guide to other leaders, he should not lead warriors himself. That makes him incredibly niche but also now incredibly powerful. Gothmog as a Black Num would have been sweet but thats not the movies and movies will always hold more sway. Still hoping whatever Intelligence ends up doing, Gothmog ends up being great at - he's going to be on the tier of Aragorn for Intelligence, surely. Free heroics to declare before switching them with Master of Battle is interesting he doesnt have the base stats to force enemy Heroics to copy, thats my biggest issue with him. Balrogs used to shapeshift so they could have wings but Durin's Bane doesn't have wings now it is condemned to that singular form of shadow and flame. Piercing again: "When its a D6 vs D6 grindfest both at S3 you need something to mix it up and add a bit of variance there." "Like Goblins are benefiting from these rules more?" First, wish there were a way to make list building meta more interesting than spamming generic S3 D6 warriors so that isn't an issue. /s But in a practical response, being able to get beneficial charges and beneficial traps, controlling space, threatening multiple objectives at once, which is typically easier for swarms than it is for lists using elites and monsters. Limited only by time, swarm armies are objectively superior. Streamline the game to give swarms that extra turn, make them less of a double-down counter to big models. Brings all these different styles of list closer in to base line. I didn't have nearly as many issues with the other Special Strikes but we don't need Piercing really, its just making redundant an answer that was already in the game: using a two-handed attack to increase lethality on both sides. Which by the way is actually the better implementation of risk reward that doesn't require you to roll more dice so streamlines things. Goblin Town already have access to two-handed but if paying 1 point scares you...Oh no, some of my 4 point models cost 5 now!... Let Goblin Town warriors choose to swap their weapons for a two-handed weapon without paying a point. Problem solved?

Good analysis in general and I agree with most points except Glorfindel is specifically mentioned to lead armies/warbands in both the First Age at the head of his House of the Golden Flower in Gondolin and in the early 3rd Age against Angmar and the like. I think they should just reduce his "utility aspect" a bit by removing Horse Lord and downgrading Unbending to Resistance (give Unbending to Gil-Galad so that both him and Elendil shares it) and giving him beatstick rules or Mighty Hero as you've said to give him the gravitas that he deserves. Less jack of all trades and more beatstick for good ol' Glorfie! BTW I'd kill for Black Num Gothmog but we're gonna get the misshapen movie mook again because movies/Warner Bros.

@@xenosophont I would upgrade him to Valour with the Fornost army bonus so the list can work - just dont want him to be the default first hero in every single list. Gil-Galad with Fortify Spirit sounds like a menace. He is already playable, just gets bullied by magic once his Will is spent hence Resistant being the answer. If Gil-Galad is improved that much and Glorfindel isnt literally hamstrung there is no chance Elrond sees play unless he also gets several improvements, especially now his unique mechanic is being copy pasted into other factions.

@@DesmondDentresti Oh Elrond definitely needs **something** (at the very least a price adjustment) regardless of whatever happens to other heroes in that extremely dysfunctional and antiquated army list. Edit: also Gil-Galad absolutely is not "playable" at any serious tournament setting and even that 3 Will is nowhere near enough to withstand the ridiculously cheap and easy access to Transfix some (very popular) armies can get. That is something that should simply be unacceptable for any 200pts hero imo. God I hope they curb the bullshit that is Transfix shutdown magic in the new ed because I hate the meta it had created so much it's unreal. Current Glorf is worthless trash with his pathetic plain S4 at that pts level without the existence of the ridiculously imbalanced magic meta the way things stand now. I pray the new ed serves as a wrecking ball to all that crap and makes the meta chasers cry and people can play with something other than the usual crap that can weather the storm that is Transfix :press F to spit on its name:

@@xenosophont Playable and competitively playable are two different categories. And I have seen lists with Gil-Galad embarrass the likes of Bannermir and the Dragon Emperor with a line of Kingsguard. The prevalence of magic does stop him from winning consistently though. No doubt about it. I agree, I hope the Transfixed condition is changed to: No Heroic actions, no Active abilities, half movement allowance, -1 to Attack characteristic until the end of the turn. That would actually be a lethality buff especially vs generic Warriors (auto losing duels if they have 0 Attack dice) but would still let them move around 3" or cavalry 5" and still get a charge off. But then the badass HEROES and MONSTERS that come with Multiple attack dice are able to get in and do their work. Obviously still wincing at the reduced attacks and less move range, but at least if they can still harm their enemy if the dice are with them rather than standing there.

I agree; I'd be fine with the likes of Transfix to still have a beatstick hero-countering effect but balanced / fine-tuned to make it more fair and "interactive". I'd be fine with that much at least... Bannermir and Dragon Emperor may be commonly encountered meta filth that Gillie could perform OK against because they at least don't have the ridiculously effective Transfix spam but it's almost guaranteed that you're also gonna be facing the extremely popular meta filth WK/Sully etc. in a tournament with the likes of Gillie and you're gonna want to throw your minis at the wall in sheer frustration. I'm not even that worried about big tourneys or "the scene" or whatever, a hero like Gil-Galad shouldn't have its worst matchups in thematic Good vs. Evil battles (where he historically/lore-wise did well in) and only do great against "Bannermir" just because they don't have f-r-e-a-k-i-n-g "Transfix" :spits:

I think the game will be better for not having special strikes as they currently are, while the loss of piercing strike is sad it is a price worth paying to get rid of feint. I would have preferred if they changed special strikes but I think removing them is better than keeping them as is

Gollum’s Gamers kidnapped me and said that I was commenting too much on Any Heroics videos and needed a “Time Out”. How they got to me all the way in Arkansas is beyond me. But before they knocked me out I screamed Chitter Chitter like Mel Gibson in Braveheart. My wife is nesting super hard, as we are now one month away from our second daughter joining us in the world. So her “Honey-Do-List has been at the top of my list of things to do. One change I’d like to see is Osgiliath Veteran be a 1 point upgrade you can take on normal warriors. That way you get +1 fight when within 6” of Gondor’s favorite brothers, as well an additional +1 courage just added to the model. The best part is not spending an ungodly amount of money for 3 models at a time.
