The janky effect from the eras technology shows the ingenuity of the filmmakers of that time. It really shouldn't be messed with. Fixing a continuity error, I get. Removing Superman's wires, I get. Old technology unable to achieve a maximum reproduction from the negative, and using latest technology for high definition reproduction, I get. It's enhancing. Though adding in elements like CGI characters or messing with what was captured on set is not only distracting, but also can destroy the sensibilities and the aesthetic of the era the film was released. Changing even the sound effects shouldn't be done unless absolutely necessary.
