Heron Problems? How to Protect Koi from Heron

I have had problems in the past keeping my koi from being Heron dinner. For the last 2 years, I've watched Heron try to figure out how to get into my fish. Protecting your Koi from predators is a challenge. Don't make my mistakes.

You have the right idea. That’s the only way netting will work. Yes is not pretty to look at but so worth it. I actually fabricated 1/4 dia steel rods into nice hoops. With it being a high dome the net forms to it and really doesn’t look all that bad.

Thanks netting didnt work for me either all my goldfish had gone in a week and i noticed the netting was full of holes where the Heron hsd pecked through it ,ill try your metod looks promising 👍

I have 1 on a tall tree every day the past 2 weeks I am very worried it will get my koi I have neting on my pond and a fake herion I have a habit keep looking the tree now

wouldn't shotgun be better solution? why build beautiful pond, grow beautiful fish and then slap ugly net on top of it. just fail.

Unfortunately they are protected. Once a heron discovers your pond they will come back.

The thumbnail is photoshopped. The Heron can't really stand in the middle of the water like that. It is only 2.5' deep so I don't disagree. I want to redo it and go deeper.
