First time reviewer, the Media Grubber joins me as we take a look at the animated adaptation of the most famous train story in the world (Yes, more famous than Thomas the Tank Engine), The Little Engine That Could.

I actually remember this from my childhood; I can't believe I do! And yes, this movie as a kid, had me thinking, "I can do it!" on anything. And as an adult I never forgot that one scene where the train was chanting "I think I can" and the singing toys. This review brought back memories, thanks Hewy and everyone else!

I think it would've been clever if more Thomas characters guest starred in this review, Thomas, Percy, Henry, James, Gordon, Toby, Edward, Duck, and Emily. And along the review, Gordon would be the engine who gets the most pissed off and jealous because there was a story about a steam engine who was more famous than Thomas.

Here's one thing that I noticed even back when I was watching this movie as a kid. All of the locomotives have differently colored wheels that match their corresponding trains. Farnsworth has silver wheels which match the passenger train, Pete has light reddish brown wheels that match the freight train, and Jebediah's are a cream color which matches the milk train in the shot where Tillie tries to take it from under his nose. However, when to comes to Georgia and the birthday train this is where things become a bit suspicious. Her wheels are a deep red in color while the wheels on the birthday train are all blue. Thus it doesn't match up with any other locomotive EXCEPT Tillie who also features blue wheels implying that she was always meant to be the one to pull the birthday train. This theory would make a lot of sense given how perfect Tillie and the birthday train look coupled together. They look like a matching set that belong, and this would also make Tower even MORE of an A$$hole given how often he denies her the chance of pulling a train.

If Gordon the Big Engine were guest starring along with the rest of the Sodor gang, he would've been pissed and jealous as we all know according to Gordon, no engine is as famous as him. He may pull the express, but he couldn't get up his own hill.

For how the other engines made it over the mountain - it's basically explained by that one bird. He says that the little engine won't make it "through the storm." That explains the flood waters carrying a giant boulder, plus the thunder and lightning that cause that icicle and snow avalanche from the skull-faced cave mouth.

As good as this film is, the only bad thing I can say is how quick the film can be. Of course it’s not a perfect film because given 30 minutes it takes, the movie actually does have some of its pacing issues which felt too quick for the movie. We don’t get started on Tillie’s journey until the final act, though I know it’s part of the book. Instead of cutting back to Eric, why not cut back to Tillie and just include the villainous engine that is similar to the Big Bad from the 2011 crappy reboot, as well as show Farnsworth and Tower redeeming themselves and have the other engines react to Tillie’s heroism. Inspite of it’s poor pacing issues, this film is still a classic with memorable characters (except Tower), incredible animation and acting, and succeeded in expanding narratives into a large story of self discovery. I’m glad to own it on VHS 4.5/5 stars

SmolHorse 64, what about the scrapyard? Even the Skarloey/Mid-Sodor railway has a better chance then the standard gauge engines. Can't say that much for the Culdee fell railway. The controller of their railway left Godred to die, & used his parts to fix other mountain engines. The railway could've just saved some money. Anyway, Sir Topham Hatt, he's the more neglective one out of all 3.

Great review Hewy! It makes me proud that I was able to see The Little Engine That Could for the first time when I was a kid and I still love it to this day. Both The Little Engine That Could and Thomas The Tank Engine gave me such great childhood memories I will alway cherish both of them in my heart. And I will NEVER, EVER, dare to look at the terrifying 2011 film!

Actually, Stretch was voiced by Scott Menville, who also voiced Chip.

26:50 - Here's a sad story between me amd that movie. I just finished seeing the whole movie uploaded in ONE KZbin clip. And it's NO WONDER Hewy Toonmore and the Media Grubber screamed. I understand... I understand why they showed their hate towards that huge piece of shit. Why didn't I listen to all the signs that meant to NOT look up the movie?
