I am fairly new to quilting and have never worked with hexagons. I just bought a treasure trove of quilt pieces at a thrift store. Many many small hexagons. Some very old fabric. I want to find a simple way to put them together and I like your method. I can do this!

Oh, this was fun to watch. I really enjoy listening to your comments as you sew the blocks and talk to the cameraman (Pop) and your YT audience. That was so nice of you to mention that Laura Ann Coia with her YT channel of SewVeryEasy and her video "Free Unique Hexagon Star Quilt Pattern" have this free pattern link (from studioefabrics and designed by Heidi Pridemore). I'm a subscriber of both your channels and appreciate your different styles of communication and what you do with your YT sewing and quilting videos. It just dawned on me that you both have the same first name AND you both did anniversary celebration quilts for your shared country of Canada (I'm from the U.S.) Nice going Canada gals! Oh my! Being able to cut out those hexagons so fast, I'd be making lots of them for presents. Those of us who don't have an AccuQuilt fabric cutting machine are so envious of you owning one. Do your friends ever drop in and ask if they can borrow its use for a "just a few minutes" during their visit? (I forgot what the number was of how many and how much time it took for you to cut yours.) If I were a local friend I might suggest a barter of some kind - like say, a group of 20+ fat quarters of mine that you like - would that be a fair trade? Oh, oh! I hope I don't unduly influence those in your circle of friends . . . :-) With baby fabric I might write with permanent ink pens or stitch in a phrase or two from "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" or words to the song, "When You Wish Upon a Star" on a light fabric border. Or how about "Reach for the Stars" for a college-bound teen? Or Christmas fabric with "Star of Wonder, Star of Night", with navy star points and a light center "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear". For a recent grad (or making the honor role, job promotion, etc.) or an accomplishment of some kind I might do a congratulatory message of "You're the best" or names of people of integrity who accomplished good things. I'm thinking, if you don't want to make the entire quilt with the hexagon stars because you don't have the time of just want more room to write the words, put a lighter-than-the-navy tone-on-tone block(s) in between each star or even the majority of the quilt. You could also have a row of just the lighter tone-one-tone between a row of hexagon stars and "write" your words there or just have a plain row of fabric. Can you tell I want to make this quilt? So Laura, if I send you my fat quarters and include return packaging & postage costs, will you cut the hexagons for me? Just kidding.
