I love that at the end there Greece owned just a random mountain northeast of Antium that was surrounded by land Jon owned. Like some Greek person went "That mountain there, we own it okay?" and Antium was like "um, okay?" and just never bothered to argue over it.

6 days later and I'm finally out of the ancient era... Side point, I find the Marathon speed to be my preferred speed because it adds a lot of strategic thinking to my mind. When it takes 20-30 turns to make 1 unit you start really focusing on keeping units alive, making wars as efficient as possible, and getting tech advantages as soon as possible. It also means that you can't just buy everything, no rushing out an army when your neighbor betrays you, so you really have to plan ahead.

I think there's a market for scale-down but feature-complete games of traditional long-form genres. In same vein as this shrunk down the Civ, Space Wreck took on Fallout for the RPG genre.

You know, I'm not sure how the devs intend it to be pronounced, but I'm definitely on team Hexarchy. I tried for a minute to say Hexarchy, but it just never did sound right, and was kind of uncomfortable on my face. I did text a friend of mine that's really good at pronouncing, but he said Hexarchy. Absolutely no way it's that! 😂 I suppose depending on the exact regional dialect it could be Hexarchy, but i think the chances of a game coming from such a high altittude valley region as that are pretty much Slimta Nun, and Slimta had to retire early due to a pervious engagement. So, ya, I'm sticking with Hexarchy.

If youre someone who does fall for FOMO and like turn based action honkai star rail is pretty good and fun. It is a gacha game but you dont need to spend money. Its like 24GB though which is why i cant play it on my phone anymore.

So the gameplay mechanics and progression are pretty awesomely unique, a very fun experience...for awhile. However this game has even less replayability than Civ 6, and the cards quickly become too much to deal with. I went 10 turns without getting a single mine, fishing hut or pasture and that is CRIPPLING to a big empire.

Ugh why does every civ-type game need to have real-world city names. It's so dumb. They look like games I'd be into but seeing "Rome" and "Beijing" next to each other on a randomized map, with flipping Stonehenge next to them, takes me out of it immediately and kills my interest completely.
