Awesome cover of a cool song, man! The Haunted Train was one of my favorite Hey Arnold episodes, partly because of the subject matter (steam trains are a big passion of mine), but also the ghost story aspect of it, and in classic Hey Arnold fashion, it's left ambiguous to the very end of the episode whether the supernatural/weird aspect is true or just another tall tale. In this particular case, it's a bit of both, the train really does exist as transportation for steel mill workers (arguably the engine was restored or it was never retired), but it's either really haunted or it has a ghostly doppelganger, as the ghost of the mad engineer from the story appears on the front of the engine and sings this song. It's hinted that Grandpa might've been the fireman for the mad engineer at the time, as he said he worked for the railroad but didn't say what he did, and he knows the story because he was on the engine that night and jumped clear and lived to see the wreck when he realized his coworker had gone off the deep end,. There's a lot of lore when it comes to railroading, and that included ghost trains and ghosts of workers....

If u were singing while playing your guitar, how'd u get your voice low pitched did u use a voice modulator?

Everything was recorded separately. I finished the backing track, then pitched it up a 4th so I could sing normally in C minor. Then I pitched the vocals down to G minor to match the rest of the song. I just used the pitch shifting in my software. This is the same process Jim Lang did on the original. I dare say the vocals on this could've used a few more takes, but live and learn.

In my opinion, Jim Lang's voice for the mad engineer reminds me of Linda Blair. I think I've seen The Exorcist/6 sequels. (well, a bit for FOX TV series. I'm thinking that I'll might fix it) Linda Blair is one of the most famous actresses back in 1973-1990 and year 2023. Linda Blair had some animal shelter job where she takes care of dogs. I still know Linda used to be a model, as she stars in advertisements and horror movies. Her role of Regan Macneil scares me the same as the mad engineer did as well. John Hayes, what's your thoughts on Linda Blair from "The Exorcist"?

for a vintage steam locomotive its against the law to run them without. granting permission by the railroad company and train dispatchers route. only on special. occasional runs. like number25 from hey arnold would have been sent to the railroad repair shop. and received a overhaul rebuild. after the train wreck.

of corce by the mid 1950s these steam locomotives of this type 462 would ether be retired or scrapped or secondhanded. railroad that still wanted steam locomotives in there operations in there fleet. its a sad thing to wittness. when. something like steam locomotives lose there purpose in life. just because steam locomotives have lost there purpose does it mean they should remain that way to rust and be forgotten. the only reason why they call steam locomotives dinosaurs is because they could not cope with modern society and civilization. when the diesels came to the seen. that literally derailed the steam locomotives era. ive always wanted to become a railroad engineer but i was born to late. and found out that in a pass life i was a railroad engineer. if i only had the chance then maybe i can move on in life
