Been using the "quick snap" for a while now when surf fishing and I have found that they just aren't as "quick" as I thought they would be. better than retying, but only marginally, IMHO. Loved the music as you attempt to connect lure to the snap. Classic!

Love this. I tie a lot of baitfish fly patterns for salt water fly fishing but sometimes the wind doesn’t cooperate so I can’t use my flies. This method will allow me to get my flies further out with a spinning rod. Can’t wait to use this in OBX next month.

My only question is how would this work with cranks? I do a fair bit of kayak fishing and tend to troll two lures and at least one of them is a crank bait shallow/mid/deep diver. I've been conditioned to think that snaps on lures like this will have a negative impact on the action of the lure, would you agree? Love the advice at the end about catch and release as well. I tend to keep one or two good flathead when I kayak then release the others.

Also talking about surf casting Striped bass is to not hold them insides the gills for a picture use a boga or the plastic style and support the mid body so you dont harm them

Couldn't you just put a swivel at the end of your main line and put the tactical clip on the top of the rig and just switch from there? I like to run a leader on the lures anyway and would just have them tied on with their own clip ready to go. But i'm not really a fan of those clips so would just end each rig with a swivel and then cut on the main line end and tie back, just one knot so still pretty fast Or I guess better yet, just have a cast pole ready to go and keep your bottom fisher in the holder

@SEECH7cornishgrimemovement5 жыл бұрын
Jake Howell I like trailer hooks but I find sometimes an assist hook ruins the swimming motion or at least limits it when using soft plastics such as Shad tail minnows two hooks at both ends of a bait can be too much weight, but no doubt about it if the fish even knocks the lure to stun it 8/10 times they hook up

@Hey Skipper, why are you using braided line for the rig? What the advantage of it?

@iusoloman15275 жыл бұрын
I tie a dropper loop at the top of my leader. This way I can undo and set my leader to the side if I need to switch to a lure. When you're running braid for a main line, you don't want to keep cutting your main line back.
@LivingTheBestDayOfMyLife4 жыл бұрын
I like your ingenuity, but this would not work in the FL surf for me. I would prefer to use the tactical clip at the top and swap the whole rig. Also if a fish hooks up on the teaser, those trebles on the lure would unnecessarily damage the fish by foul hooking it as well. I probably would use the same rod for these two techniques and certainly not the same leader strength. I like where your head is going, but this is not ideal for me. Maybe it's for the person with one rod who also ran out of leader?

Can I tie one of the power clips to my main line (braid) then attach rigs to the power clip instead of having to cut my line each time?
@goobygoober_693 жыл бұрын
Literally all you have to do is make a bunch of rigs with split rings on the end of the rig before you go out fishing. This way, when you go to change rigs, all you have to do is cut the main line that connects to the split ring and then tie on another rig.
