Alright, I'm not holding back about this channel! I get to the coast about once a year at best, and I like preparing for the trip since I don't have much time to learn while I'm there. So I like this channel because this young man really teaches every single episode, not just click bait where you got some "gut over the belt" fat guy smiling at the camera showing you how he can catch fish without sharing anything on the "how" side. I like the Dad showing up, and the respect they give him for his appearance. This young guy explains AND shows you how he does it, with sincere attitude and micro-tips, which could make the difference between a nice fishing trip, and one where you actually catch something. I just love this channel, watch every single one, BEST fishing video anywhere. Hope he keeps the "Hey Skipper" active caption at first, pretty cool. For catfishermen, Dieter Melhorn is the best instructive video.

Even though this video is a couple of months old, I wanted to share my experiences with using both finger mullet and large mullet. I was surprised that you didn't get into any blue fish that time of year, for they usually run hard in the surf in the fall. The first thing I want to say, is with big mullet, I rather filet them, because the crabs don't seem to steal the bait as easily. Another problem I have had with large mullet, is I would get a lot of sharks using big mullet. Finger mullet is a killer bait both live and dead. I would only use the big ones to catch either speckled trout or catfish in brackish water. In water that have a lot of blue fish, I use a still leader so the blues won't bite me off. That is my two cents.

Let me try again after some more research...>>>LADY CRAB - Ovalipes ocellatus is a species of crab from eastern North America. It is most commonly known as the Lady Crab. Other names for it include the Leopard Crab or Atlantic Leopard Crab due to the leopard-like rosette patterns on its shell, the Calico Crab (not to be confused with Hepatus epheliticus), or Ocellated Crab.

I really like the right rig you used. In most cases, a bigger bait is the best way to catch bigger fish. Once at the pier, my dad asked for a baitfish and I gave him the smallest greenback I could find. He gave me an ear full but was too lazy to get his one. Ten minutes later he hooked into the biggest snook of his life. He had never been so thankful for one of my pranks before or since.

I am a non-fisherman trying his hand in surf & sound fishing for the first time the week of Thanksgiving in Hatteras. I really appreciate you for carefully walking me through my pre-fishing event training program. I will be happy if I get two keeper drum but I suspect we will do better. We've got cast nets, crab nets, and we'll be trying out the rigs that you showed to us. Update me on the details of the flounder size and whether we are allowed to keep them from the surf or the sound. We ought to be able to score some finger mullet by net and your video here as given me some confidence to that end.

In NJ we call them Calico crabs. They're perfect bait for Reds. pop off the claws and the back shell. One that size would make a perfect 2 baits for those larger hooks. Great job on the rainy day fishing video. .......>>> Calico Crabs (Hepatus epheliticus) have predominantly white shells, but they are decorated with large purple or pinkish spots on their carapace, and stripes on their legs. These are shame-face type crabs, with rounded shells and specialized claws that can from a shield over the crab's face. These are unique crabs, and they grow to about 4 inches wide.
