Hey Skipper

Күн бұрын

This week, I am showing you favorite fishing bait tips for bait fishing on the beach. These are tips my dad and I have picked up over the years that help us to catch fish every single time we go out to the surf. What are some of your favorite tips that you’ve picked up?
This week, I am fishing with Erin, my mom, and my dad at Point Lookout. We are throwing some big baits today, so we’re hoping we can weed through all the little fish and finally land a big red drum today! I’m so lucky to be able to have this fishing experience with my dad. What’s one of your favorite memories of fishing with your dad? Let me know in the comments below!

Congrats on that PB drum! Nice fish! Your advise is spot on with the bait, I do the same thing with a 10 minute-check rule. So many wasted opportunities soaking just the hook. Also, If I miss a fish, I'll let it soak for another minute or two (to see if it comes back) then bring it in for a bait check. Man sometimes you wait days for that big red (seasons even) but when you finally get it, its 1000% worth the wait. You are showing the novice surf folks how to catch fish.. these are tips that take years to learn, thanks for what you do!

Hey Skipper! Can you reply or maybe even make a video on why you setup your rods so far from the actual surf? I see many people do this, and although some of it my be GoPro lenses causing it to appear further than it is... describe how far form the edge of the water you stake your poles.

I want to say thank you. I have been watching your videos, and it never occurred to me to tie my own rigs. After watching your video with your dad teaching T-knots, I will never buy a rig to fish with. I also used to just have one bait, shrimp. I have tried bloodworms and even squid, but I never got anything on those. I will definitely be bring more bait with me from now on. Now that I have a 4wd truck, I plan to make many trips to the beach this fall to fish. Thank you so much.

Hey Skipper; - If you walk into the shore wave dump to cast, like when you go to pick up a fish, you will get some more casting distance! Take the pink skin off the squid (or chokka,) to (re)freeze it, the white cleaned squid will stay fresher for longer! Catch another big one! !🌞 🎣🐟🐠🐟🎣 🌞!

Husband catches Big fish, smiles and wants to fish some more.. wife says "yay, Can we go home now"🤣🎣 I fish a lot in Hawaii, Big Fish here. That Lizard fish that u caught and released. those are like candy for Big fish here. Maybe same for where you're at. Next time you catch those hook through the top jaw and cast out live for monster fish. They are bottom dwellers, hide themselves in the sand.. and Predator fish look for them, suspended above sand if the big fish are around they will not hesitate to strike that. Good luck. Aloha from Hawaii.

Enjoyed the video. Might also suggest using Fishbites red bloodworm alternative as a backup with soft baits like shrimp. With the "stayability " of Fishbites, you'll never find yourself "fishing on credit" . Keep some bait in the water and lines tight.

ok so there where you have the clam and piece of fish on the hook use ghost cotton to wrap just the section closer to the hook. this will keep the bait much longer on the hook and the presentation looks good.

You should do a video with a # counter showing how many times you’ve checked the bait or showing how many times you’ve re-baited between scenes. Awesome content as always. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@scottyjenkins3082
@scottyjenkins3082 3 жыл бұрын
Just sharing my experience but typically once the line is set, if you get bites and grab your rod to set the hook and nothing is on the hook that you can feel, either reel it in to check your bait or wait no more than 10 min then reel in if no bites. I change my bait out every 30 min if it’s still on the hook with minor to no bites because appearance plays a factor in if a fish bites your bait. Having bait wadded on a hook vs your bait hooked once and dangling could be the difference if you land a fish or not. Along with appearance there’s smell that plays a factor for fish. If you are using any type of fish head or bait that bleeds, eventually it will lose its juice as I say and you won’t have the same smell trail coming off your bait other than the meat itself. Not a big deal if the bait doesn’t bleed but having both factors of appearance and smell will greater your chances of landing a fish.
