Great tips! Jason Sadites here on KZbin did some extensive research and found that using a split A/B for the reverb is exactly the same as using the Mix control and keeping the reverb on the A path. A great use for splitting the path is applying effects to he reverb tails only and mixing it back into the signal with the splitter controls. Thanks again for the inspiration!

Just watched this, and ended up buying your expanse pack! What??? I bought an HX Stomp XL after being underwhelmed with my Quad Cortex. I've had every amp, and modeler out there. So, I go online to buy a few different preset pack for worship just to give myself a jumpstart on some tones. I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that your presets in the Expanse pack are far and away the best tones for live! They are mixed beautifully and fit in the pocket without being gaudy or distracting. Huge thanks!

5:10 yes. If you’re using one block it may be the same as using the mix in the reverb block, but I your using multiple blocks, say reverb and delay it’s helpful to set up. parallel chain. Also, my fav is to set up the parallel output to a separate amp or to record this way. Allows you, sound engineer or anyone to adjust your effects levels live or post. Plus, it’s absolutely insane how much better it sounds running two amps one dry and one with effects. Try it. Mind melted. It’s fire

I have to do it all the time because of the four key players we have had on rotation, only one played synth pad stuff and he left for college. You can literally only hear the others if they play the intros. They don’t cut through the mix it all with just the piano style playing, no matter how good they sound alone.
@HeyWorshipLeader3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it can be tough for pianists to think more like a guitarist with effects. But that’s what I’ve started to train my keyboardists to do. It takes a while, but it’s fun

Maybe I am missinf something but wouldnt you put the amp cab at the very end of the signal chain.
@HeyWorshipLeader Жыл бұрын
You can do that. And some people prefer it. Having your effects go into your amp and cab will color them whereas putting them after won't. It's really just a preference thing. Unless you are running stereo, which I am, and don't want to have two amps to retain the stereo image. If you put anything mono after a stereo effect, it will sum it to mono

great stuff. can you explain why the silent part of the looper part doesnt repeat when it comes around again? why isnt it going "SILENT > AMBINET . SILENT > AMBIENT" loop? Im dense I guess :) thanks
@HeyWorshipLeader2 жыл бұрын
Great question...the silent part is looping on itself...even though you can't hear it (because it's silent :), that way the ambient can now loop on top of the silence without any breaks in sound.

what do the trails on delay and reverb do?

Trails on mean that the "tail" of the reverb or delay will continue to decay even when the effect is disengaged. If it's set to "off" then when the effect is disengaged, the tails will cut off abruptly

Does the looper take up a block? I see your initial reverb was replaced by the loop block at the end. Also, if you switch to a different snapshot will it stop playing the loop? For example; Lets say you need to build pads, but for the rest of the song you need a completely different tone (like rhythm electric or lead), would the loop keep playing when switching to different snapshots, or would you need to copy the loop block onto every other snapshot you plan on using?
@xxstevenicholxx87323 жыл бұрын
I came to ask where the loop block was because the block count was at max. I do know you have to have a loop block for every preset you want to run a loop in.
@HeyWorshipLeader3 жыл бұрын
If you have a loop block on both presets the loop will continue which is cool...only bad part is that it will still have an audible dip in the sound when you switch.

I really enjoy your videos! Thank you very much! It´s really helpful to get to a fuller potential of the Stomp! :-) The tip with the higher Chord Shape is excellent. Is there a way to find those without a very deep musical theory knowledge? God bless!
@HeyWorshipLeader3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. My suggestion is to just start with a key you are the most comfortable in and try to find inversions all of the fretboard of the same chords. Once you begin to recognize the shapes, you realize you can do that in any key!

Search stuff on the CAGED system, it helps!
@DavidFeilyMusic3 жыл бұрын
To get the trails from looping a pad, put the looper before delays/verb instead of at end? Also can do infinite pads via the new poly sustain (aka freeze). Useful on either momentary switching (like a piano sustain pedal or the game changer audio pedal) or latching. Did you not use that method because of high DSP?
@HeyWorshipLeader3 жыл бұрын
Well...the looper will only latch onto anything being poured into it. Meaning if my delays and reverb are after...it can't loop them....but that's not a bad idea to put at least one long-tailed reverbs after so there wouldn't be a hard cut....It's just that reverb wouldn't be in the pad itself/. Yeah...the only reason I don't use the Poly as much as the DSP issue...but that is a cool effect.

Can you briefly speak to cab/amp placement in the signal chain? I see people put it in the beginning, middle and end and I am wondering what is best?
@HeyWorshipLeader2 жыл бұрын
Great question. Remember nothing is wrong unless it sounds bad. Your wet effects after the amp and cab will be cleaner and more pristine sounding. Wet effects before the cab will soften and warm them up, and before the amp will add distortion to them which some people love because it is just like running a pedalboard into an amp...a lot of people do that!
@fretlessman71 Жыл бұрын
If the reverbs are the weakest aspect of the HX Stomp, do you think that's still the case today with the latest firmware updates?
@HeyWorshipLeader Жыл бұрын
Great question. I no longer feel that way. The Glitz is always good. But the new Dynamic reverbs (hall is my fav) are just really fantastic. The new shimmer is good but not as good as my JET Revelation. But all that to say, in a live setting, no one will know! Use the gear you have and if you have a fav reverb or delay then it’s so easy to put it in the fx loop!
