Diplomatic Corps to the human team: "Okay, this is our first time on the galactic stage, and we don't want to ruffle any feathers. Take it easy on them. We don't want to embarrass our new friends at their own games so don't place too high." "Git gud" "Team, anyone remember what that suit told us? No? Me either."

Story 1: Not only did they rouse the sleeping giant, they gave it enough time to wake up, have it's coffee, stretch it's muscles, and form a plan of attack that is both ancient and used in a novel modern way. in other words - you done fucked up by poking at us and gave us a goal of "real bad dudes, that way." Story 2: Human Dream Team of Players verses Xenos... Oh I bet it was a miscommunication problem until we all decided to start using English.

imagine how much time the devs would have to take to fully code a "set piece" that wasnt expected to be used at all and then one team realizes that a WW1 artillery piece was not only a very detailed model, but a fully operational one at that!

considering we have reached space and found new races, it likely was just finding amodel and adding it to the game (happens to be a VERY detailed model)

Meh. He's as old as I am. They're still fun, but they lose their hilarity with age. Those are the kind of usernames we've been using since the 1970s. Still funny, but we can hold a straight face when reading them if we need to. I remember a username I put into an arcade game back in the 80s that I called "Flatulus Maximus". It was one of the milder usernames listed. One of the three above my score was "tiddytiddybangbang". I knew who "MuffMuncher-3000" was, and I don't think he knew what that meant. I didn't know until Highschool. The maximum number of characters on the machine was something like 20 or 25; pretty advanced for its time. It wasn't Galaga, but it was something along those lines.

Second story reminds me of something that happened to me a few weeks ago. Me and my team were playing Party Animals. We got trashed talked by a player on the other side who won by a single point. Next game match, my team was just laughing about it all the while not a single team member of died. Only realized after the post match that the other team had the same player in it from the previous game. Little bugger wanted us to get good so we destroyed him so much we didnt even know he was there.

Pretty sure it's a reference to tyrrany excused by "national security". Which was a common excuse in the 1930's. Also a well known one to this day, in the specific context of ww2 Germany.
@Cl0ckcl0ck9 ай бұрын
@@kyleheins It also was a common excuse long before the 30's and is still used widely today. The 30's Germany wasn't special in any regard relating to that. Especially because in most of the 30's they weren't even fully autonomous as the Rhineland was demilitarized till 1936.
@kyleheins9 ай бұрын
@Cl0ckcl0ck the reference seems to be related to Germany justifying the more notorious of its invasions such as the takeover of czekoslovakia and Austria, and the invasion of Poland with statements claiming the need to fortify borders, obtain buffer zones, and unify people of mutual cultural interest, with the goal of improving the security of those states, especially Germany itself. Essentially, this is extremely well known internationally, sonit's an easy literary reference. Those of us who know history intimately are exceedingly aware of how often this type of justification is used for all kinds of breaches of sovereignty and even oppression of one's own populace, but the majority of people only remember a couple major instances, chiefly the WW2 German ones.
@Cl0ckcl0ck9 ай бұрын
@@kyleheins It's known as pretty much as a meme. Austria wanted the Anschluss, Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia was pretty much German. And Poland was hardly innocent with their bellicose behavior around Danzig (now Gdansk). The Nazis were pretty horrible but around that time saints compared with the USSR. France and the UK played a pretty nasty game too. 80 years after WW2 ended it's silly how many people still see it so black and white. I'm Dutch btw, we suffered more from the Nazis than most Western allies.
@kyleheins9 ай бұрын
@Cl0ckcl0ck No one was innocent in the events of the first half of the 20th century, however some were A: less secretive about their heinous acts and B: openly hostile to most outsiders. This lead to first the Central powers, and later the Axis being far more notorious than others, despite the atrocities of their opponents.

And Admiral Birux, I suggest you read some human history and see how our "client" states were treated after defeat in war and realize that they do get their independence back... after they've grown up a bit and learn how to play and share with others. NEVER tease a human team about not being able to win a combat simulation, especially one based on one of our own wars.
