You said you had to change one of the wires from the ESC but you didn't even show us. Might be helpful to show somebody else what to look out for

Well every esc and FC is different. You need to compare the wiring diagrams for both and cross the wires to match each end of the connectors appropriately. Joshua Bardwell has a good video on it (something like how to set up any flight controller).
