Replacing the rear pads and drums on my HHR will work on Cobalt possibly other GM cars with rear drums.

do all of the 2007 hhr have rear drums?

I believe if you had antilock it had disks in the back I could be wrong the SS had them for a fact on all 4 I put the SS rotors and Brembo calipers on the front that made a huge difference I have a video on it as well

Thanks for taking the time for doing the Video. Ill be tackling this later today,(brake shoe replacement, with new drums), and Ill be doing the Rear Hub bearings as well. New Shocks were done the other day.Front Bearings, Rotors and pads and struts.Ill be using your methods to do the rears. Great detailed info.!Thanks

Very helpful sir. I wish I had me a pair of needle nose vise grips when I did mine because that was the biggest pain in the butt trying to get that right shoe back on that e brake line!

Hey..Thanks for the video. Yeah, putting in the W shaped retaining spring, and the small e-brake spring sure is hard i guess. I just saw many more rear drum brake videos and all instructors almost have a tough time with. But putting a clamp on to hold one side of brake is a good idea, makes it easier. I have a C-clamp with me, which I am planning to use to do the job tomorrow. Worked on it for a small time today before giving up as it was getting dark. Anyway, thanks for the video. Cheers!

Just to update, did this job today and the brake shoes they sold my buddy weren't the right ones. They had the spring for the parking brake cable integrated into the shoe and a totally different mechanism for attaching it. The original parking brake cable couldn't fit in it. Got them back together with the old shoes, installed the new drums, and readjusted the shoe alignment - that seemed to fix his brake squeal issue. The shoes on there looked brand new anyway; the old drums were in pretty bad shape though. The video was a great help, thanks again!
