What worked for me was turning the ignition to on and waiting 10 seconds, then turning the key to off. Car runs great with old throttle body. Thanks for sharing!

glad you figured it out, I need to clean the throttle body on mine as well. Doordashing makes it work hard haha and for those who don't know it's always fun to point someone at this car and just tell them to disconnect the battery without context go on have fun finding that

Man, thank the youtube gods for "playback speed" adjustment. I had to speed this video up to 1.5 to sound normal. But thanks, video content was very useful'

I've noticed on my HHR, if I ever have to disconnect the battery for any length of time, when I reconnect it and drive it, the throttle response is much better. From what I understand, they are programmed more for economy and eventually it gets to where I have to press the gas down more to get her to move. But I think I'm going to check the throttle body and clean it. Almost 100,000 miles on it and I bought the car with 84,000 on her. Plus I've noticed my gas mileage has gone down a little. This may help with my out of town trip next week.

It's the relearn process, so it will run well because it has no information saved in the ECM to compare too. Once you start getting miles on it, it will adjust to what it thinks it needs to be. Cleaning the throttle body will make a big difference. I would take it off because the underside is just all carboned up also. Don't force the butterfly, just spray the cleaner and wipe. Then do the relearn process. Disconnect for 15 and let it run for the specified time, shut it off and then restart it again and let it run for the specified time. Then drive it around! Good luck

your mechanic friend did the same thing with the scan tool he used ...guess he didnt ever have that problem.... if you have any issue with your car, disconnecting the battery is first thing to try... buy a 20 dollar scan tool.... resetting the ecm, tcm, pcm,and any number of bcm's can fix or help find most problems ps love my hhr

I am giving him a pass on that. I called late on Sunday his day off. He works on heavy trucks mostly and will look at my stuff when I have a issue or don't feel like crawling under the HHR. I am sure he would of figured it out. There was no code logged in it. I have a scan tool and there was nothing logged in it probably because it wouldn't run long enough. I was just glad I figured it out after watching some You Tube videos.

Sorry for the late reply, did you do the throttle relearn process? Did you check for air leaks around the manifold? Cracked hoses?

Your mechanic should have told you to disconnect the battery.
