JustAnswer Customer: Hi Rick.
JustAnswer Customer: I also have an F14 fault on a glow worm 30cxi boiler .
JustAnswer Customer: kicks in after about 2 minutes of running the hot water (occasionally I get F5 fault too).
JustAnswer Customer: I've replaced thermistors and actuator but no joy.
JustAnswer Customer: If the problem lies with the plate heat exchanger, would a complete system powerflush help?
JustAnswer Customer: I'm insured with Homeserve who say they won't investigate the fault further until the system is flushed, so it feels like I'm being held to a costly ransom for something that might not work.
Andrew Smith: Engineer: Hi my name is * * lets see if we can get you sorted in the shortest possible time.
Andrew Smith: Engineer: It sounds like the plate heat exchanger is at fault.
Andrew Smith: Engineer: If it is scaled up and the boiler is trying to get heat into the water it will keep getting hotter and hotter to try and achieve this.
Andrew Smith: Engineer: Descaling the plate heat exchanger is a simple job that should cost you about £80.
Andrew Smith: Engineer: Ring around and get the cheapest price.
JustAnswer Customer: Thanks Andrew.
JustAnswer Customer: If the plate heat exchanger is scaled up, would a complete system flush also resolve the problem .
JustAnswer Customer: i.e.
JustAnswer Customer: De-scale it at the same time as flushing the whole system?
Andrew Smith: Engineer: The plate heat exchanger gets scaled up on the hot water side, so no it would need taken out and cleaned like you would descale a kettle.
