Good point same with Seattle. Think about it for 3 seconds if you lost everything. Would you go to A. Texas where weather is uncertain or B. Seattle where the rain is mild and weather can't kill you and there's no snakes. I don't know. Hard choice right? People are so disconnected on how humans lived before society that our outlasted members re-figured that out. I mean they live like animals. Tents, hunting for food in trash, finding clean water, finding bathrooms in the city ect. They basically camp in the city. They to be taught how to live with soceity again. Either by rehabilitation or imprisonment or mental institutions unfortunately.

Homelessness is increasing across the United States. Take Little Rock, Ar, for example. There is a so-called Compassion Centers, where the social workers transition homeless people and their families to housing. They are not allowed to live in these compassion centers long. They must cooperated. If not, they are forced to leave. But they are running out of room for those, too.

Sad situation out there. We need to somehow get these people into rehabilitation centers or jails if they refuse. This needs to be done out of care and love for both the addict and community. Its not safe being on the streets. It might be heartbreaking to jail someone but, its the only way some people learn. I understand addiction. I myself have struggled with alcohol, marijuana, LSD, nicotine, a speed. I did shrooms about 30 times in my life. I had a life changing trip that prevented me from going further into the lifestyle thankfully.

Well there's homeless people in Texas a red state so I'm not sure where this bias comes from. I've traveled far and wide and both blue and red states have homeless people in my experience. It isn't 1 party that caused this. It's both. They both have roles to play in society last I checked.

Homelessness will grow. Some homeless may be addicted to drugs or alcohol and some may be mentally ill, and those people need to be urged into treatment centers. Of course, some will refuse and remain homeless. I'm concerned about a growing number of people who are employable or can receive disability or retirement, but there is no housing that they can afford with their limited income. Many years ago, family structure was different. Households were multigenerational. In a typical home there might be a grandmother, an alcoholic uncle or a mentally-ill aunt, and there was a place for them to be and a family member who could stay home and take care of them. But now, houses are smaller and every capable family member needs to work to make ends meet. To aggravate the situation, zoning laws have strict requirements for a legal dwelling unit and often limit accessory apartments. There are not enough respectable rooming houses. As the divide grows between the increasingly-wealthy and the increasingly-poor, some of the billionaires could take major steps to ease the homeless problem. But they won't. The days of the dedicated philanthropist are long gone.
