Link for those interested: amzn.to/3QBdmmm (affiliate link) By the way, I did several more temperature measurement trials after the video. It seems to do a bit better with the temperature stability as the portafilter warms up. Nonetheless, it does tend to heat up a fair amount towards the end of the extraction. In the end, I think your mileage may vary with this, and other PID machines, but pre-heating the portafilter will help. Thanks for watching!

about the OPV adjustment(19:35 ) coffee_wave went over the process of removing and adjusting the OPV in his review at around 12:00-14:00 minutes. The video is in Russian but the auto-translated captions did a decent job. The process seems like a pain, but not super difficult. You may be able to do it in without taking it apart with a correctly shaped tool(maybe cut a strip from a metal ruler and bend it to shape). I'm not entirely sure from the video(around 12:20) but it seems like there is an additional cover at the bottom of the top part of the machine that can be removed to access it more easily.

Calphalon TempiQ comes with the same style portafilter. I’m not sure whether the thermoblock in this machine heats up the portafilter without pushing hot water through it, but the TempiQ doesn’t, and I think that is a shortfall of the thermoblock systems like this. You have a room temp portafilter to soak heat out of the puck. Maybe it doesn’t contribute to the flavor that much, only a Scace would tell you. Options are great though for people looking for a machine in this price range.

Once again it's sad to learn that there is an OPV in that machine without being told at what pressure it releases. Perhaps, most people goes with the flow, but I'm not. Do you know that it's now well known that espresso coffe can save a liver dammages? At the time my doctor (specialist) told me that I must have 4 espresso shots at 11 bars (he insisted) in order to reduce, if not to stop my liver's to deteriorate. It's a real pain trying to find a reliable machine that can extract at 11 bars and shows it on a reliable pressure gauge.. It's so hard to have specifications on machines. I can offord much more than $600 CAD before tx for amachine with a gauge, good PID with digital display. I personnaly prefer boiler than thermoblock because of temperature stability, and warmer BG head. I'da possibly be interested in that Casabrews machine if I could play with the brew pression so that I could reach a real 11 bars extraction with it. Thanks for very helpful reviews. Between this and dedica ec685, which one do you recommend? Please suggest as im going to get the machine in next 1-2 weeks

Hard to say for me. The H10A is better spec wise, but I have a soft spot for the Dedica.

@3:37, it doesn’t necessarily mean it has a PID controller just because it has a sensing thermo probe. PID refers to the type of feedback loop.
@TomsCoffeeCorner5 ай бұрын
You're right, but you can set the temperature on this as a setpoint, so I'd call that a PID.

This machine head unit is metal or plastic + metal?
@TomsCoffeeCorner6 ай бұрын
That’s a good question. As far as I can tell, it’s metal with a clear film on it on the outside, and if I remember right, it might have some plastic internal bracing.

I doubt it. Unfortunately, my manometer does not fit on the bottom of this Portafilter’s threads.
