Link for those interested: amzn.to/3QBdmmm (affiliate link) By the way, I did several more temperature measurement trials after the video. It seems to do a bit better with the temperature stability as the portafilter warms up. Nonetheless, it does tend to heat up a fair amount towards the end of the extraction. In the end, I think your mileage may vary with this, and other PID machines, but pre-heating the portafilter will help. Thanks for watching!

Great video, Tom. I have had the H10a since February 2023. It's still going stong. I turn the water knob to release the pressure from the group head. It's a good budget machine. Half the price of the Bambino plus.

about the OPV adjustment(19:35 ) coffee_wave went over the process of removing and adjusting the OPV in his review at around 12:00-14:00 minutes. The video is in Russian but the auto-translated captions did a decent job. The process seems like a pain, but not super difficult. You may be able to do it in without taking it apart with a correctly shaped tool(maybe cut a strip from a metal ruler and bend it to shape). I'm not entirely sure from the video(around 12:20) but it seems like there is an additional cover at the bottom of the top part of the machine that can be removed to access it more easily.

Just ordered one of these after watching your video (along with one by Lance Hedrick). Looks like a solid machine for my basic needs. As I told Lance, I'm coming from a Via Venezia which I had for 19 years (The thermofuse and the pump need to be replaced). Still, for $239, the H10A looks like a steal for what you're getting.

I just bought the Gaggia Espresso (2023 made in Italy), I did not knew that this one existed, maybe I would have liked this (more settings and control, non -pressurized basket etc). Did you find the pressure gauge useful? They announce a crazy high pressure of 19 bars. Any thoughts? THANKS for honest review. I have an early Breville Duo-Temp (800ESX) that is leaking and cannot be serviced anymore, the diffuser is not available anymore. Companies have variable support depending on models. The Duo-Temp is now a mature machine and bugs were iron out. Shopping for a new model, this is my price range.

Calphalon TempiQ comes with the same style portafilter. I’m not sure whether the thermoblock in this machine heats up the portafilter without pushing hot water through it, but the TempiQ doesn’t, and I think that is a shortfall of the thermoblock systems like this. You have a room temp portafilter to soak heat out of the puck. Maybe it doesn’t contribute to the flavor that much, only a Scace would tell you. Options are great though for people looking for a machine in this price range.

Nice machine, although I would prefer the manometer to show the bars It brews in numbers. For me, the perfect machine would be something with a manometer showing the bars in numbers, a PID like this machine has(I wouldn't change that), and with no steaming wand as I don't steam milk, always drink pure espresso. I've been using for some time a Briel B14, the model without the steam wand, just changed stock basket with a non-pressurized one, still going strong. It's the simplest machine you can get but I make great espresso.

Theres so many upgrade options from the typical $100 espressos but most of them are sold as combo grinders and most of us already have grinders or expensive grinders so it makes it harder to find better upgrade option without the darn grinder combo. what are your thoughts on the ecp 3420/3630 vs the h10a? after buying accessories, the price difference would be around $100 cheaper for the ecp series. how do you think both would do for various roasts, light, med, dark, etc. it seems like the h10a would be more versatile w/ the temp control, but maybe the ecp would still be more stable? also, would you use 58mm or 58.5mm tampers/puck screen for the h10a? do you feel like both would be a good choice as a first espresso machine?

Well, the H10A has an adjustable PID which is nice, so you can alter the temp to the bean you're using. But honestly I prefer boiler machines for my med to med-dark roasted beans. Don't know if the PID makes that much difference for me in that case. It is important for lighter roast beans though. As for the G5, I may review that sometime in the future. I'm sure it's a fine grinder - probably like the D40+ or ESP, is what I am guessing. Cheers!

Hi Tom, what basket would you recommend that would be the best for this machine, I just bought the Hibrew H10A for $185 on Amazon "On Special"? Thank you beforehand

How do you fit your temperature probe between the portafilter and the gasket without leaks? I always wanted to measure the temperature of my machine that why but it leaks so much the the reading are influenced.

I formed the wire around the lip of the port filter, and gently insert it into the brew group. I try to make sure that the temperature probe sits on top of the middle of the coffee puck. On some machines, it does still leak. With this one, it didn’t.

@@TomsCoffeeCorner Thanks for the reply! Have you tried to measure the temperature of the bambino with success? When I try it it always leaks a lot which influences the results

Hey! H10A Plus is coming soon :) With 3-way solenoid valve (I asked Hibrew directly). They should start production in June. Unfortunately I don't know the price, but the new model should probably be a nice (and complete) upgrade. I hope you will get it and test it :D

You actually have more possibilities without 3 way, you can make blooming shot as long as you want for example.

@@dejedejsson That is exactly why I'm still wondering if I have to cancel my pledge on kickstarter or not. Being able to do blooming shot seems to be a nice possibility, but I'm still guessing if this is a way to still do it with a solenoid valve. Do you have any insight on this?

What is a better option? Buy a Hibew H10A with a Hibrew G3A grinder v.s. a Hibrew H7A with double boiler and built in grinder? The first option is $300 cheaper than the second.

How would this compare to the Bambino Plus? Is there other models to consider in this budget range?

I like this machine better than the Bambino plus all around. That being said, I don’t know how the longevity will stand up compared to the bambino plus. That remains to be seen, of course.

Hi, Tom. If you had to pick one, would you choose this for $225 or the Dedica Maestro Plus for $350 if you were trying to get the most value for your money? Do you think the Dedica adds enough be worth the extra money?

Is this better than the ecp 35.31 if i only use for espresso, no steaming milk at all

Well, I still prefer boiler machines, if I’m being honest. That being said, this machine will do better for you, if you want to dabble in medium and light roasts, since you have more control over the temperature.

Would you recommend this machine over the ecp 35.31 in advanced mode as you presented in your other video ? What are the differences in your point of view ?

@PresidentTio 7 ай бұрын
I have the ecp 35.31, and just bought the Hiibrew. I bought it because it really gives value for the money and you can change many variables. New ims basket and a pucksceen + a bottomless portafilter would make the difference for sure 👍🏽

Once again it's sad to learn that there is an OPV in that machine without being told at what pressure it releases. Perhaps, most people goes with the flow, but I'm not. Do you know that it's now well known that espresso coffe can save a liver dammages? At the time my doctor (specialist) told me that I must have 4 espresso shots at 11 bars (he insisted) in order to reduce, if not to stop my liver's to deteriorate. It's a real pain trying to find a reliable machine that can extract at 11 bars and shows it on a reliable pressure gauge.. It's so hard to have specifications on machines. I can offord much more than $600 CAD before tx for amachine with a gauge, good PID with digital display. I personnaly prefer boiler than thermoblock because of temperature stability, and warmer BG head. I'da possibly be interested in that Casabrews machine if I could play with the brew pression so that I could reach a real 11 bars extraction with it. Thanks for very helpful reviews. I already watched many.

@3:37, it doesn’t necessarily mean it has a PID controller just because it has a sensing thermo probe. PID refers to the type of feedback loop.
@TomsCoffeeCorner

You're right, but you can set the temperature on this as a setpoint, so I'd call that a PID.
