Thanks for going in depth under the stand. That helped explain it a lot better with the pictures/video. One question I have, I noticed there is rust on the bottom of the metal stand...have you on any of your metal stands noticed rust has gotten to the point of 'oh crap' or heading that way to a failure? I am sure it would not be fun to get under there, sand off all the rust, and re-paint, but that may be better than leaving it continue to rust as I am sure over time the humidity under the enclosed stand would keep the rust trucking right along and doing its thing.

Hey Josh, long time supporter here.. Was just wondering about something. Have you ever heard of anyone selling fresh-water fish tank water? Just thought it may be a cool idea to raise some more money for the rescue 😏👍 Would be awesome to fill a tank and be able to add fish next day.

All you need is a buddy to donate/swap their spare seasoned sponge filter or some media for your brand-new one. Most serious fish keepers always have spare media going in sumps or as spare sponges in case they need to set up a fast tank. EDIT: If you don't know such a hobbyist, your LFS should be happy to do that swap if you obviously buy the new media from them.

It has become a white elephant indeed. I wouldn't mind seeing it turned into a coastal mangrove paludarium for brackish species. If the dry top section looks good enough with real growing mangroves and maybe a mister, the setup wouldn't add excessive weight to that sketchy part of the concrete floor. It would take some work and isn't within the OFR mission since they don't get many coastal rescues. Housing guppies or random nanofish (to keep the water load small) in that massive footprint and cabinet volume is overkill unless it serves as a unique educational project. A couple years ago Josh was dead set against any salty tanks. Brackish seems like a realistic pivot now.

Did u guys increase the pump size or the amount of water movement from the aquarium to the sump? They usually design their sumps to handle the appropriate amount of water Filtration at a given time and not have that sort of issue.

Bad design on the filter box. With 100 micron socks when they get plugged the over flow was 4" above the socks. This essentially covers the water inlet so all the air that comes down the 3" pipe from the over flow box gets trapped. I drilled air release and some lower overflows to remedy it. I will end up switching to 200 micron socks on this set up. 100 micron is too small for all the rays. Worked great with the platinum tank but with rays and more pumpage it just not enough they clog too quick.

@@OhioFishRescue-com why not go with the cups instead of socks or for a 50/50 with both. It'll save u from having to monitor the sump so much with what just transpired. I use those cups on as many setups as I can lol no one wants to wash socks!
