Wacky Rig Tips (Catch MORE bass!)

Do nothing. Skip it under tree lines in the spring. Use heat shrink tubing instead of the o-rings. A lot cheaper and doesn't "saw" the bait in half like the o-rings do. Stab the hook right through the tubing and the worm, perpendicular to the worm. Green pumpkin purple flake... black when the water is dirty. Repeat, do nothing, but watch your braid, high viz to fluoro leader. It will dart or move suddenly along the surface of the water. Jam it! Crush your barbs, because they will occasionally swallow it with this finesse, weightless presentation. While I find it most effective in the spring, it works all year long and I almost always have one tied on.

I just caught a 15 pound channel catfish on a wacky rig earlier today.

@@RippedLipsBassFishing I guess, had no idea they would lol. I caught an 18 pound channel cat on a ned rig a couple weeks ago. And a 5 pound 12 ounce bass in the same day. Both new pb's. Both of 'em pulled drag to the other side of the pond, so much fun on a medium.

they both work great, I tend to lean more towards a MH for the extra backbone when horsing fish out from under boat docs.

Lost a nice one last weekend using to small of a hook

hook size shouldn't matter. Where we get in trouble is setting the hook too hard and ripping a hole in their mouth, which lets them jump and throw the bait. I've had to learn to just lift and keep my drag pretty loose when fighting the fish to keep them pinned.

@@FishinwithGRAMPS when I'm fishing my local Creek even with a Texas Rig I still snag stuff. This is an open hook.

@@kamron_thurmond there are tons of open hook baits, we just deal with it.

@@kamron_thurmondin my creek there are so many snags as well, in the deeper pools I will use lures but for the most part in snagging creeks all use a bobber with a worm or live minnow or small bluegill and put the bobber just with enough space above the bait so it doesn’t get caught on snags or rocks
