I plan on either getting my future son one or handing mine down. I love how each generation of yours has one. That’s truly a special thing! I keep mine next to my Henry long ranger. Our family has multi-generational weapons. My late paternal grandfather had a Colt .44-40 he owned and carried all his life. My oldest paternal uncle has it now. My father gave me his S&W Model 10-6 when i left home at 18, now 41. He's since bought a new one, a 10-14. When my nephew is old enough, my 1971 Walther P1, with hexagonal pin and improved slide, will go to him

Congratulations on the beautiful Colts. As impressive as they are, It is even more touching that they are sure to be cherished by your family for generations to come. While I thought that it would be hard to top John's "birthday" gun, you may have just done so. The beauty of the situation is that there is no need to contemplate which is more special. You seem to be passing along the love of firearms with the family while building lifelong memories. I am sure that years down the road family will be seeing Hickok45 and the memories of him as the true beauty of these. They will truly be priceless.

Hi Hickok... Every time I have "commented" I always start with, " I have never seen ANYONE who can shoot such a variety of guns, as well as you can"... You are an inspiration....... With the purchase of these Colts, you have created an amazing family legacy; I know your son and grandson will cherish these guns for their life time; and their sons and grandsons. I love Colts. I have only one Colt in my collection (a 1974 Colt Huntsman), but that one Colt is my prized position... just because it is a Colt. I have a few dozen other firearms of various types, calibers, etc....And I love them all, for various reasons. But the Colt is now, and will always be my favorite... I had stopped shooting it a few years ago (it's about as hard to clean/ re-assemble as a RugerI) but you have inspired me to get it out of the case, and shoot the bee-gee-bees out of it.... Thank you for all the vidoes; I may have the record, for watching the most Hickok45 vidoes of anyone on earth.

About 70 years ago when I was 10-11 my dad taught me to shoot with a Colt SAA. I later acquired my own made in 1904 chambered to .38-40 with 4 1/2" barrel. It had been carried by a long time OR sheriff. Bluing and case hardening had faded away, but the gun is still tight and accurate. I carried that gun until the mid 1980s when I semi-retired it. Reason: I learned how valuable it had become. I contacted Colt custom shop and ordered a SAA with 4 3/4" barrel in .45 LC. I did have one custom feature, it has a brass grip frame. Makes it very distinctive. It has been my primary carry to this day. I have owned several other handguns, but have never found anything with the "pointability" of the SAA.

Thank you Hickok and Son for presenting such a memorable event in your family history. Congratulations to you John and also to you Greg. I certainly hope to see the first time Davy is out on the range getting his first shooting lesson from Dad and Grandpa. A year old, I'm counting the days. Wait, this was posted almost 2 years ago. I better go find the video of Davy's first shots. Ha ha Such a wonderful gift and legacy. I was trying to imagine John's ear to ear grin when he found out what Papa Hickok had up his sleeve. Probably a close second to when his son was born. Hopefully these fine firearms will last many generations in the Hickok household. That was pretty slick how you found an excuse to get another Colt SAA. Mrs. Hickok certainly couldn't say no to that one. The Ermey earplug trick caught me by surprise. Just happened that way or was it another Hickok scheme. Rest in Peace Mr. Ermey.

@@antthomas7916 Well... * breathes in heavily * In MGS3, Naked Snake criticises Ocelot for having an engraved revolver which he considered frivolous. Ocelot grew to admire him and would constantly change his guns almost as if he wanted to please Snake - even his choice of gun being a revolver was a recommendation from Snake. Ocelot used to use a Makarov, which is a semi-automatic pistol but changed after Snake pointed out his tendency to twist his elbow to absorb recoil would better suit a revolver. By the time MGS5 happens, Ocelot had already embraced the revolver and he, in turn, made the same commentary about engravings offering no tactical advantage to a random DD soldier, as a nod to what had happened in MGS3. So, what happened in MGS5 was a reference to MGS3. :) Also, Ocelot's entire personality was shaped by Big Boss/Naked Snake. He went from using one pistol to three revolvers, to finally one revolver because of his repeated failure to best Snake in combat. ... I need a life, don't I?

Hey Hickok45, loved this video!! Congratulations to you and John, and to Davy on his first gun being a Colt :) When you get a Colt SAA, do you have any action work done on them by yourself or a gunsmith? Have you ever had any of them sighted in for windage by turning the barrel? I have also heard some people have the forcing cone re-cut to 11 degrees to tighten groups. Judging from how well you shoot, you probably don't need to do any of that, but just wondering. Thanks again for the awesome video! With the stag grips you now truly have a Marshall Dillon Colt :)

I have smoothed up actions before with a stone kit I've bought from Peacemaker Specialists. I don't know if they still sell those or not. These don't seem to need it. Some of the late 2nd Gen Colts and early 3rd Gen Colts had rough actions. Yep, now I'm Matt Dillon in my fantasies, for sure. :-)
