1R1R those holes are for sure snake holes...I wouldn’t worry much probably just the non venomous water snakes. The poisons ones are wider so they are gonna need wider holes unless you have young ones which are three times as aggressive so the one you saw would have struck at you if it was poisonous because it’s hole was to small for a grown poisonous water snake

Fishing under docks and cover like docks is most productive during the high sun, they go there for cover...as you mentioned the lake has lots of cover everywhere so I say the fish do what they naturally they travel all over a place with cover as that lake has....And those holes, may just be man-made, people like to fish for carp and most carp fisher people like to stand their fishing poles upright with bells/whistles, etc....

Frogs will winter in the mud by the bank, you usually find the holes in early spring. Holes higher up the bank by tree roots are often made by rats. Snakes will check out all of them looking for a meal. Snakes can't dig so they don't have dedicated holes but since they will check out of dozens a day foraging people often see them going in and out, so it appears they live in them. But they're just hunting.

Snakes will "hole up" in abandon burrows of other animals, but they don't dig their own holes. The little holes you showed in your video are probably too small for all but a very small snake to crawl into. Those holes were either made by small rodents or if there are any there, perhaps a crawfish. Not sure what kind of snake you saw, but the most common snake around here (Maryland) that hangs out near water is the Garter snake, the most common snake in the US. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garter_snake All snakes can swim, so without seeing it up close, I wouldn't be able to identify it. But keep in mind, the only venomous snake you will find in the Wash/Baltimore area is the Copperhead. Ok, yes, there are timber rattlesnakes but they are not very common unless you are up in the hills. If we don't get too much rain on Sunday, I might fish the Potomac on Monday up near Seneca Creek.

it could be a snake or some rat hole, not sure if this was recorded after the rain or before but since we recently had a huge weekend storm it's harder to tell if it's a snake burrow or not, usually there's a dune/rim protruding upward from the hole whereas rats usually kick the dirt back so you can see a small soft pile and they left their droppings around the vicinity unless they have already left it vacant for a while then it would look as dry as it is in your video or the all the traces were flushed from the storm. Snakes usually just go into existing holes of another animals/rodents or empty hollow tree stumps i dont know if snakes can dig up a hole unless they have ... LIMBS lol
