I like the olan with being intentional and plan out your entire day dueing holidays. Im creating all new traditions and R& R and recreating the holidays are rhe priority.

Dr. Tamara. That was good advice. You do and give far too much. I think you are beautiful inside and out. Please put yourself first.Marie.

I started focusing on how there are parts of Thanksgiving that are just another day. Like the trees and grass are going to grow the same. Birds will chirp, I'll take my daily vitamin, the sun will shine or the clouds will appear, gas stations are open, cars drive the same. And then not picture stressful things as vividly because I just spent a lot of thinking on the ordinary stuff.

I can definitely understand this feeling/perspective …my father conditioned me to think every holiday or special occasion was “just another day” so it wasn’t much room to celebrate…be happy or anything like that. We all wish we could be around family and give thanks but some are more blessed than others in that department.

I don’t think any kid or young person should be rejected from simply living with his or hers own family just because they never raised them, or that they “raised him and not you”… yeah… my sibling that I never got to grow up with since birth…

I like Thanksgiving because I love cooking for people and there food. Then we scale back, quiet down during the Advent fast to prepare for the joy of Christmas Day. After Christmas Day we celebrate the joy of Christ’s birth for 40 days, slowly take down our decor. New Years was never a big thing for us so it just gets passed over as we celebrate Christ.

That’s a beautiful way to celebrate! I agree for sure! That's how I was raised and I continue this "tradition" to this day. That's meaningful and truly a way of "worship" that the world misses by focusing too much on commercialism. It's good to know there is more than one way to exist during the holidays.

Just finished watching, always so many helpful tips. It's good you are taking some days off. Everyone needs a nice break now and then. I noticed something with people that have been hurt by their families, they end up becoming worker bees, always doing things to keep busy, our neighbors were like that. My husband and I are like that too. We have some friends that also grew up in a toxic environment, alcoholism...they are super workaholics. I don't know what that's about...just something I notice sometimes. We started volunteering teaching kids arts and crafts, the holidays are especially fun to do that. You just have to find your people, and find your peace.

I think its called cognitive dissidence where your 🧠 goes back and forth like a ping ping ball, trying to make a rational decision. Preparing myself emotionally, for my moms and boyfriends annual Christmas party . Very distressing because of the toxicity. Inwould call my boyfriend for emotional support. I could not, not be present. My boundaries were not strong enough to say a little white lie that i had rhe flue. Soo sooorry. 😮😅😅
