How often do you fish with eel? On the west coast we use lamprey eel for sturgeon. Good to see a good old bait shop. Two of our old time bait shops closed in the last two years. Enjoyed the video!

Thanks Danny!! We use them in fall and winter in much cooler water than spring. Bluefish would bite them into pieces in spring and summer. I use them soley for BIG fish.

I noticed the eels and reminded me of a tip for fishing with them. We all know they can be hard to handle fresh out of the bait tank. I saw a guy with a bucket full of saw dust from a chain saw and he would drop the eel in the saw dust and handle it with no slippage at all. When cast in the saw dust floated off. Enjoyed the video

Of course I do Mike!!! Fresh water shad need lots of oxygen yes but a little chemical additive is very helpful,a simple cup of pool salt in the tank will really keep them alive longer,fresher and frisky!!! It is really cheap and works alot better than expensive shad keeper etc.

YES SIR!!!it’s pretty amazing how all of us Striper fishermen have become MAD SCIENTISTS to catch and keep bait😜😜😂. Adding non-dairy creamer, potato chip crumbs, and even hydrogen peroxide! It ends up being an obsession. Striper fishing freshwater is a “stand alone” endeavor. No other lake fish requires this much prep and work well before the first hook is baited. Outside of a few awesome bait shops in the south, you can’t even buy Striper baits like Shad, SkipJack and Herring. Thanks for your support brother!!

I use a big oxygen tank with a regulator and a diffusing pad does the job.
