This job you took on is really testing your skills and can't believe how someone can build brick on brick, walk away away and think that was good job. I work on my own and have a high standard that I work to and never considered taking anyone on as it is rare to see people taking pride in their work today. I must say that your dad has taught you well and your standards are outstanding. It's disgusting sometimes what some workmen think is ok today and also what they charge customers.

Try and set the multitool to the slowest speed setting, blades will still cut the timber but last much longer.
