Oh my gosh! I had to laugh as soon as you revealed that piping behind the wall. My hubby was such a sweetheart and decided to inset a medicine cabinet into the wall for his wifey and had the same exact experience! Love the sound effect, it is perfect!

I was right in the middle of the doing the very same thing with stationary shelves in our master bath. Ripped those suckers out and now installing the EZ Stud Racks. Next I do the same to the main bath. Great video.

I am amazed at how you can do this and I believe that even with my skill level, I can accomplish the task. I want a clean counter area - I have a 25 lb. dog that thinks 'wiping everything off my bathroom counter' is something to be desired. And this idea is perfect. I also plan to look at how to increase my pantry space, closet space and small art-based business space by doing this same type of arrangement. Thank you! I may end up wishing I owned stock in EZSudRack before I get through...need a way to mount to cement basement walls. I do canning and would love to have better shelving...maybe I'll find a video on that too. :) Blessings!

Just be careful if it’s an exterior wall. The inset cabinet takes up space in the joist bay that would typically be full of insulation on exterior walls. Removing or compressing that insulation will lead to a refrigerated vanity here in the frozen north.

given the noticeable 'gap' on the left window at the start of the video, I would have gone with a swing-out style vs slider install...unless you can move the slider further to the left so when the window is actually shut...you don't see anything behind it! Overall the 'concept' is legit...the execution and final product are (IMHO) , less than adequate!

Hello, I used the popsicle sticks as shims behind the slides. When I open the mirror it was rubbing on the wall. You can use regular shims, like you would find at the hardware store where you purchase doors. All this is for is to do slight adjustments so the mirror slides easily. Hope this helps.

Great idea, with all that work, you should of gone a little further and hire a plumber to angles pipes on the middle of wall to have a clean look inside medicine cabinets. I had same issue, but cut and moved pipes around middle of both medicine cabinets.

Walabot is a gadget that 'sees' into walls and will show pipes, wires and studs w/o cutting into the wall. Having said that, a stud finder will help you find the studs, then you can cut a small hole (hand size) just the depth of the wallboard and you can feel/see what is in the wall. If you do it carefully enough and decide not to continue you can spackle the piece you cut out, paint and no one is the wiser.

If you measure your wall Area and divide by 3, that is the mirror size max you can use. Hope this makes sense. If you are using 2 sliding mirrors the exact same size

was the opening to the mirror on the left slightly larger than the mirror? i noticed the shelf opening on the right side of the left shelving might be a little difficult to adjust the shelves. noticed at 17:23. otherwise great storage solution i need this in my tiny master bathroom

Thank you for your comment! Yes in order to adjust the shelves we had to unlock the slides and move the mirror about 1 to 2 inches. Adjust the shelves and move mirror to engage the locks on the slight. Great observation!Spacing varies due to the studs in the wall.

Hi Judy, starting at around 15 minutes, I put the mirror on some blocks to hold it in place, pulled the slides out and made sure they were level, I guess I should have gotten more detailed in hanging them. Sorry about that.

You are correct. The mirror on the left had to be adjusted to allow it to move semi smoothly and slightly hard at the very end of the close. The one on the right moves great. Do you know any great videos that shows how to adjust this type install?

"Hidden Storage" - ROFL - You can buy virtually the same thing, in many different styles, from Lowes, Menards, Home Depot, etc., and they are already assembled and ready to install. But, if you go to one of those places to buy one, you need to know the super-secret password: 'MEDICINE CABINET'.
