Hidden Well At The Portugal Renovation

Hidden well finally uncovered.
Off grid the big question for the Portugal renovation project. Can we achieve total off grid or will we have to settle for partial.
Meanwhile back at the Quinta we continue with the office build and workshop. So many things to juggle, but I think we can do it.

Hi James and Christina, that reno property going to be really good. Three wells! Love the washing machine! Fun feature! My fav, a pergola with a vine! Lovely entertaining area. Skinny works so hard, very fit. Your grafted Solanum , Christina a great success and a feature in that pot ( for now)?in front of pretty stairs. Great progress on the workshop. The wall looks really good and I love the way it curves into the ceiling. Looking forward to those lovely doors going on. I'm so happy for you Cristina on the success of your grafting experiment. The little tree is beautiful. Is that wasing tub you uncovered at the renovation made of concrete? I was thinking that, if they don't want it, it might work nicely in your greenhouse with a water faucet and drain, for cleanups and such. Perhaps? Have a good week!! 🥰🌿♥️

With your tree; I would have cut the circular roots at the bottom; roots continuously growing around in a circle can strangle a plant. Trimmed back at least a third of the foliage; because the flowers and foliage were being supported by the mother plant; once cut from the Mother it has to grow roots for its own support ; and flowers etc take energy from growing roots. I would also have given it a seaweed drink to reduce transplant shock. Good luck.

@@The-Quinta just saw this comment. i thought it might be a run off as well but with it being a natural spring that takes the run off thought out of the equation. makes me more curious as to what the small basin at the top was used for and boy my eyes need checking. i can swear i saw a hole on rear of the basin that looked like some sort of plumbing line might be in. either way nice to have a natural spring right there.

The mess gets in the way of the Creative Process. We live on Lanzarote and Friday is our "tourist day" where we do "touristy things. HOWEVER, Friday morning is tidy up time and I go about putting things away and chucking things out. Makes Monday a nice clean start.

Wow, so many balls in the air you two: I see why you knocked down the half wall dividing your shed - it was rotten as a pear and almost fell over when pushed. Your replacement breeze block wall looks strong. Dividing the space into a store and a workshop is my idea of the way to go. You can put a stove in the workshop section to burn wood offcuts in winter and work in the warm, I love stoves, so any excuse for one... Skinny is a human dynamo, is he on piece rate? The land at the reno has lots of potential, much bigger than I thought. That place will be superb. Terrific work rooting the shrub, not a tiny cutting but a decent 25 euro shrub in full flower, just like that!. Is it a hibiscus? There's potential there for making Christmas and birthday presents. We get lots of dog barking, people leave them outside 24/7, and the slightest thing sets them off🙀. This is not the dogs' fault but their keepers. Sometimes it is continuous for an hour or so. When outdoors I drown them out with transcendental meditation🤣 and music.

I have a side note to ask. Viewed all your posts to date. I have seen your car several episodes past. Wondering how hard/long it took to get new ownership. I hear SUV's are very hard to purchase in Portugal. Is this true?

Nope. All cars/SUV's are available here. A bit more expensive than else where, but you also get more back when you sell it. You can go to a car dealer, buy a car and drive off 1-2 hours later as long as you have all the correct papers with you. Like anywhere else.

No it’s not true, it wasn’t hard and it took us a day to find one and we collected it a week later, only because we had to go back to the uk. We could have picked it up within a couple of days. The road tax is a lot higher. Hope that helps
