Honestly, the spin-off I would want to most is that of the grunt rebellion. They are such unique, lovable characters. And their story is one of heartbreak and sorrow. Having a storyline from the perspective of the grunts could be very moving. Maybe playing as multiple grunts, multiple small story arcs all aimed at achieving one objective. (I think having a single protaganist who survives the entire game would break the realism a bit, as they aren't as resilient as the other races) Another plus, is a grunt featured game would likely be a one off, so you don't have to worry about having the grunts win in the end. Think of how moving a story could be where you fight against overwhelming odds, have a successful rebellion, only to have your home world glassed. It would be heartbreaking.

When I was a kid I used to play a custom firefight mode in Reach where I set my health and damage to 1%, gave myself only a shotgun and a pistol, and pretend I was a civilian trying to make it to evacuation as the covenant ravaged the countryside. Come play with me on xbox. I play MCC every now and then. I like custom reach firefight. I don't play like that, but I play on heroic with 3 crazy custom skulls. I call them the covenant legions and I call the mode special forces firefight. Set 1 (yellow)= trigger happy (shoot very fast), unlucky (don't dodge grenades), average with grenade happiness, and short sighted. Despite those abilities they are very tough just by being trigger happy. A jackal sniper or elite can spread through a spartan in seconds. The few times they nade, they do it super fast. Set 2 (red)= eagle eye, average rate of fire, don't throw grenades, and average dodging ability. The eagle eye makes them deadly, especially the brute chieftains and even the elite generals with plasma turrets (which typically suck as bosses). Set 3 (blue)= great dodging, average rate of fire, grenade happy, and average vision. You see, each wave has unique strengths and weaknesses. It was crazy fun. I also played with the IWBHYD and grunt birthday party skulls. Would love to play with you one day. My gamertag is MetalFrog (also some numbers but, I don't remember atm but I'll hyu if you want).

Spin offs are neat, but.. take a survival horror game. Against the flood? You may as well not bother, since the enemy is strong to the point where unless you're a spartan in armour, you're not going to survive it; and if you are a spartan in armour, you're going to have weapons to fight back, and it's not really a horror anymore. Stealth mission? Sure, Oni could do that kind of thing; but at the same time, you know you're pretty much the bad guy in the story if you're working with Oni; unless you make the villian so bad that even Oni has to step back and say "whoa, calm down" to them. So spin offs would be neat, but the world they made isn't really made for taking control of anyone who isn't a spartan or a soldier in the UNSC (or possibly the Sangheli forces), and that really narrows down the avenues.

@@yatakara7675 I think Alien Isolation should serve as example for almost every horror game which wants to be hard- challenging, full of space to explore and secret content everywhere (diary files of covenant or other prisoners), awesome graphics, music and feelings through the entire game. I have played Alien Isolation on the hardest difficulty twice on xbox, it ain't easy (at effffing all) but as a Alien(1-2, the 3 not as much but still kind of good, 4 is trash, expected more from covenant, Prometheus is effing excellent), Blade Runner(1 and 2) and Halo(every game but 4-5) fan, and as I played too many games to actually remember (not kidding, played even almost every game genre ever) I think I know what a good example for.horror should be and Alien is perfect! Puzzles, enemies everywhere, silence, disturbing noises, nobody can hear you scream in space and the host of tonight's show : alien! CadeWood DT, You’re not wrong. The place and time of this out break could be on the Mona Lisa or New Mombasa. It would make more sense on the Mona Lisa because it was a prisoner ship that did extremely brutal experiments on humans and covenants. This way it could have that flood horror feel and also be able to tie in more story arch through out the ship using tablets and computers to gather intel. Personally it would be cool to start off with just a knife or pistol and have limited ammo. Over time find new weapons and either destroy the prototype grave mind or just escape. Giving the player two options would be awesome a new. Especially with the idea of a flood horror game and ODST 2

For the flood tho, I have 3 ideas. High charity flood invasion with the great schism combo is fucking tense. Earth invasion as a marine/ODST trying to evacuate. Post halo 3, the UNSC had control of some forerunner flood research facilities if I recall and a dedicated CBRN group, and spartan class is there just for it. A terrible outbreak story where you try to evacuate as a staff/ guard of this facility would work and bring more lore about the flood

here is a good concept for a flood horror game. imagine being one of the CIVILIANS in voi trying to escape as part of the opening cutscene, boarding a pelican before its shot down by a squad of elites. you manage to survive by being just on the ramp before it explodes, and while you are disorientated see the elites start stairing at the flood infected ship that just jumped into the atmosphere. the elite captain realizes that its a flood infected ship and instead of killing you hands you a plasma pistol and tells you to follow him, saying that he'll need you if he is going to survive the outbreak

I don't think at at that point any elites were fighting for the Covenant, I mean the prophets order the extermination of the entire Sanghelli race so why would an elite fight for the prophets. And any elites fighting humans in Voi would likely be killed by Rtas' men.

A "flood spin-off in high charity" was my idea. I've been posting this hypathetical game for months with few people finding my comment. My idea was an ODST style game where the main cast are elites on High Charity during Halo 2. It starts out on the "Shadow of Intent" During Thel Vadam's trial, a squad of elites, each a different class are discussing the uncertain future if the war and the covenant. This squad recueves a new member (you) a-la Halo reach, where the unnamed protagonist is wearing whatever armour we equip. This unnamed elite plays the role of the rookie. Each member of this elite team has a unique ability/mechanic that changes the way we play the game. The plot starts out where our "rookie" and another member of the team are sent down into the streets of High Charity to look for clues of a heretic leader planning to start a 2nd grunt rebellion by killing jackals, and we are forced to investigate with "minor heretics" (those who experiment with human weapons) to try and teach down the culprit. At the same time, High Charity's artificial weather systems are malfunctioning and rumours are floati go around saying that it's being sabotaged my heretics. About half-way through the game, the flood invade the city and the "rookie" is seperated and needs to re-unite with the elite squad, whereas brutes & elites are killing each-other. As this is happening, the squad are trying to evacuate survivors of the flood invasion, whilst trying to hunt down the heretic leader, the brute chief, and their lost teammates, A-la ODST.

I like this a lot, the darker odst reach vibes and possible horror elements (the player has no weapon where theres flood) or stealth (brutes hunting down elites and you have to evade them for a period or risk fighting unarmed/barely armed)

Personally, I would love to have a game where you could play as different squads of Marines during the Human-Covenant war. Start with a battle during or after First Contact, possibly fighting insurrectionist for the first half of the mission before getting word that aliens were coming to invade the planet you find your squad on, being forced to work alongside insurrectionists as you take on a Covenant invasion. Jump ahead to a year into the war, playing as a new squad, being sent in to help extract civilians from a Covenant controlled area without alerting the patrols, only to be forced to escape as your squad learns that this was a trap, ending with the squad being stranded on the planet as they defend an escaping Pelican from Covenant forces. Next mission focuses on another group of Marines being sent in to help clear a path for an evac for an injured Spartan, ending with one squad member being forced to stay behind to save the others. The next mission could have a squad work with Noble 6 by complete chance, having Noble 6’s mission cross paths with this squads. And continue on with more missions until we reach the end of the Human-Covenant war. Have few Flood based missions where the player characters in the squad must watch the rest of the squad become Flood combat forms and put them down. Have one or two of these missions end with the squad trapped and become infected. Just an idea I think would be cool.

The forerunner flood war would be amazing to have and it should be, especially for those who don’t read the books or watch video about halos lore, and I feel like to fully submerged into that game it would have to be either 3rd person or first person but I feel like 3rd person would be awesome but then first person would really give you a feel on how forerunner armor really is from a first person view, and I feel like we should play as the forerunners or honestly it should just start from the very beginning of thing leading up to the events of the forerunner flood war, so we could play as a human and then the human dies and then the next games we play as a forerunner and since there only a few forerunners that are mentioned out of all the forerunner during that time 343 could add a very important forerunner who is a soldier but is apart of all the important events that take place, and us getting a perspective of the AI that talked to the gravmind, it would be an amazing game and could possibly shine even more than the main story line we have now with the master chief, and we could play as Forerunner AI and all sorts of things, or even play a forerunner who had been infected mentally by the flood or something like that, and really create a grounded story but also getting the full story of the war at the same time and seeing it with our own eyes

I'd honestly just like to see a game where you play as regular infantry. It would be cool if it were an Arma 3 sort of thing with mod support, an editor for custom missions, and multiple locations like Harvest, Onyx, Reach, Earth, and other lesser known planets that haven't gotten much attention in the Halo universe. In terms of gameplay and mechanics, I'd imagine something more like Battlefront 2 (original), with being able to choose between two periods: Operation Trebuchet Era and Human-Covenant War Era. You'd be able to play as any side you wanted. Again, gameplay would be pretty similar the original Battlefront 2 or Battlefield 2, with a massive sandbox allowing for large scale wars or small skirmishes. I think it would be awesome.

I want 3 spin-offs. The spin-offs I would like to have are: 1) Covenant's view on the invasion of Reach, those who were never in a fight against Noble team but has heard of them and stay away from them and hunt other Spartans and UNSC soldiers. 2) A Banished centered game where you play as a Banished soldier trying to gain new supplies and fight Covenant splinter cells and humans as the Banish grow. 3) A game that takes place from the beginning of the Human-Covenant War ending at Reach where you can either play as the UNSC or Covenant and take command of a fleet, like an open-world style game almost like ODST but galactic. I was like, wtf, why wouldn't you mention the Forerunners, but then you did haha. I have so many different approaches that might work. For instance, what if you play as the Ur-Didact in the time he was being corrupted by the Gravemind. Have it begin with him being a good and stable leader, and then see him become more and more unstable, alienating other Forerunners, composing Humanity and finally have it end with him being imprisoned. I would honestly love a game like that, but maybe it would need more than 1 game to truly tell the story properly. What would also be cool, is to play as ancient Humanity while they were running from the Flood and invading Forerunner worlds. It could end with Humanity being devolved. Finally, something that could potentially satisfy a lot of needs for us players (atleast for me). A Flood horror game, but actually the first time the Flood was discovered. You play as a scientist of ancient Humanity, but not just any scientist. The scientist who was testing the Precursor dust on pets. At first, everything is possitive, so you recommend the dust to be used as a standard. You feed it to your own pet as well, but as you live life happily, your pet suddenly becomes more aggressive and starts to mutate. As this happens, you start testing your pet and discover the horrible reality. You have just created the first Flood creatures. You try to warn people but they won't listen, and then it's too late. The city you live in is suddenly in chaos as the first ever Flood creatures start ravaging it, and that's where the gameplay begins. The goal is to escape the city and show your research to ancient Humanity's leaders and tell them what has happened.

I just want one game where we play as an Elite fighting humanity. Imagine this: you play as a young spec ops elite, your CO is Rtas Vadumee, it’s the late 2540’s and this war against the humans is dragging on into its 3rd decade. The covenant are winning unquestionably, but the casualties and resource strain is taking its toll on the covenant. It would be cool to see a faction of elites, a sort of analogy the the European liberal secret societies of the post Napoleonic era, that want to end the war and are sympathetic to humanity. It could end on a real grim and dark ending, as your factions rebellion fails and you are hunted down by your former spec ops comrades and Brute kill squads.

I would love a halo grand strategy game that takes place during the human/covenant war. Like total war or empire at war, you could control one of several factions the unsc, covenant,banished, insurrectionist or covenant heretics. Each faction has it's up sides and it's down sides, the covenant have powerful units but there expensive and take long to make, the unsc have the weakest units compared to all other factions(other than the insurrectionist) but they have the cheapest units(other than the insurrectionists) I think it would be awesome.

When I went to my first year of college, I originally majored in Game Design. After a week I realized it wasn’t for me and changed majors. That being said I had so many ideas I wanted to bring to the gaming industry, mainly a General Grievous origin game. But I’ve always had an idea for a squad of elites from a colony planet where rules and customs are a bit different than on Sangheilios(Sort of like how they are in the planet from the book Shadow of Intent). Basically the story would revolve around 4-5 elites who grew up on this planet and it would follow them from their childhood throughout the time line of the human covenant war up to modern Halo history. Although it will never come to fruition I’d love to see a Sangheili centric game for sure!
