Wow those plasterboard/stud walls sure make life easy. In Switzerland where I live, our walls are either brick with mortar base and plastered or reinforced concrete with mortar base and plastered. Hiding the cables in the wall would require recessing (rebating a channel in the brick or concrete), replastering, repainting. I think we'll use a cable channel or a white blanking panel the width of the TV. to hide the cables. Your end result looks great! All the best, Rob in Switzerland

Something to consider for future projects like that rats-nest of an electrical outlet (other than converting it to a dual outlet configuration) is to use one 5-position Wago Lever Nut for all your incoming hot wires and another for your neutrals. You then run one hot pigtail from the hot Wago to your outlet's hot side and one neutral pigtail from your neutral Wago to the neutral side of your outlet. You could also do something similar for your grounds if you had multiples of those. It's so much easier than trying to hook all those connections up with wire nuts as well as trying to run pigtails from them to the outlet - not to mention getting them all to fit in the box after you've gone through all that.
@mykalimba2 жыл бұрын
6:10 I realize that you've probably been doing installs for a long time, but the "...we don't need 15 foot wires..." comment made me chuckle. I just did a hidden cable install like this and I thought my 15 foot cables would be plenty long enough. Turns out for for some components (like that PS5 that's on the ground to the left of the center console), a 15 foot cable is barely long enough to reach. Once you see how much of that 15 feet is needed for routing along the articulating arm behind the display, there's surprisingly very little cable remaining to run down the wall and out to a component.

I have a similar pair of Klein's, can't go wrong. One thing I don't like about the HTA 9 is one HDMI input, that's ridiculous. So you need to run 3 cable to your panel. I have Mac and BluRay into my 990B then just the eArc to my panel. You could use a switch at the bottom end for the HDMI which is what I'd do, Amazon has tons lol.

Have a question, if you can suggest. I am planning to buy a ikea besta tv unit(bottom 4 drawers) , not sure whether it has slots/holes on back. There is vertical drawer(4 slots) on both left and right side of the TV unit. My power outlet position is to the left and right of the vertical drawer at bottom. I am assuming since both the TV shelf and vertical drawers will be touching the wall for safety, and there will be a screw to attach to the wall. My question is, how will I able to connect a outlet surge protector from the left/right side of vertical drawer to go back to the central tv shelf, if everything is touching the wall? Is it possible to install the ikea unit and vertical drawers keeping a certain distance from wall? and by not making lot of drilling in dry wall to change position of power outlet

Why not use wall mount HDMI panels so you could use shorter/longer HDMI cables that plug into a wall? This way if you buy a larger TV you could just use a longer cable without the need of running it behind the drywall again.
@maxking32 жыл бұрын
QuickFix: Buy some Acoustic Wood Panels with wooden slats on a black carrier material (i.e. Wallribbon). Get a mini cable duct with the same width as the black grooves & spray paint it black. Put the cables in the ducts (HDMI left, Ethernet middle, power cable on the right) Now you can wall mount the TV, hide the cables in the 2-3 black ducts (always accessible) and can even put a few black led stripes into the remaining grooves (15-20 inches at a random height every 10 grooves… looks awesome) This is what we do in Central Europe, when we hit a brick or concrete wall!

First you should have used a recessed box at the top. And a larger recessed box so there’s room for cabling and even things like an Apple TV. Some even have covers so you can completely hide wires recessed behind the tv. Also if you’re not putting permanent hdmi cables in the wall you should use a two inch conduit or orange flex tube between the top and the bottom. Makes it much easier to put new cables through it in the future. Also as the ones you put in there aren’t fire rated the conduit is necessary. Electrical. Oy. A few wago wire nuts or the type that you insert wires into and close the connector. And you should use a surge protected outlet behind the TV. Plastic dual boxes like that don’t block emi. Hdmi cables are shielded somewhat depending on the quality but still a bad idea. Larger recessed boxes have a lot more separation between high and low voltage cabling. And yeah wiring a electrical outlet like that stabbing a residential grade crappy outlet like that is just asking for trouble. Only appropriate with gfci outlets and those don’t just rely on pressure but use the screws to press down the wire from a back entry. Pretty much what you shouldn’t do all around.
