Never let financial issues break a marriage. Always communicate and support each other. For a couple, best to be transparent and honest. Building a marriage is not a 1 personal task, its a team work. Its how 2 parties come together to make it work and work it out.

Really really thankful for you sharing this with everyone, I am in my early 20s and recently I open up to my partner that money had been really tight and I feel so stuck and trapped not being able to thrive in life and just surviving. And he came out and talk ABT how he can help and that we are a team moving forward. Now we both try our best to educate ourselves on financial planning and how to stretch that dollar

My favorite video is about couple finance because you all are very transparent and insightful. It is important to be financially literate because without it, regardless of how much money we have, it will be spent on unnecessary stuff. Today, I learned about balance transfers as it will help us a that time being. Most importantly, you teach us how much we need to save and not rely on future money like credit cards. Please share more of such video and thank you for always sharing ❤

Both of you shared things besides being financial healthy, where communications and acceptance plays a big part of it. Its a great sharing and appreciate you guys being brave in bringing this up. Look forward to more sharing and I feel this video very beneficial. Looking forward to more content like this. ^_^

One easy logic in life is to only spend what you have. Having credit card or personal loans aren't exactly bad things, because you will get so much more rewards from credit card usage (such as miles or cashback) plus it actually boost your credit rating if you are paying off your bills (in full). 1. Don't get lure into those PayLater scheme such as interest-free installments (if you do, you have to side aside cash for the monthly repayment) 2. Don't get into credit card debt (Late payment fee and interest would wipe your savings dry) 3. Do a simple cash forecast on your end. Just need a calculator to check what you can actually afford (Bank balance - bill payments = how much you can afford) On the side note, I really love your videos! Nice sharing 😁

I agree with both of you. I am in my early 30s with 2 young children. My husband and myself doesn't believe in impressing others. When we got married 6 years ago, everyone did fancy weddings. We both decided we worked hard and save hard. So we decided we want a small wedding, a small church wedding with buffet. That's it. We want a family, so we say get married then means have a baby soon later. We emptied our bank savings on that small wedding without getting parents help and house renovation. We took a small bank loan of 25k, finish paying it within a year and shortly welcome our first kid. Until today, we are still happy to do a small wedding without impressing people. Wedding is a day, marriage a lifetime. So end of the day, no need to impress people one lah haha Today, we continue to save up for retirement and children education.

I feel you and I was literally the same shit I was in, took me 10 years to get out of it and yes, my wife already judge me for my poor finance decision when the fact my 300k debt was from other ppl cheating me to invest. Now I am trying to proof my wife again then I am financial literal, I started earning more income, pay down my debt and increase my cashflow. I am a firm believer to earn more than you spend so we don't restrict myself on our needs and wants.

hmm.. oddly thought provoking in the sense that it makes me realise how different we are as human beings. like I completely cannot relate sia. at most is only to relate with ur friend audrey. I never thought of credit card as borrowing money, but just making use of the perks but treating it like a debit card. and always treated debt as slavery - like the intangible burden on ur shoulders is much more than the actual dollar amount - so always die die avoided it like the plague. still trying to figure out where all that comes from (like trying to remember childhood/upbringing) but can't really pin-point anything in particular.

I am intending to save 50k and this year i managed to save like at least 30% but it is still daunting cause my house is coming Q4 2024. Also, as I am working towards that 50k goal, it is quite scary to think what is after the 50k cause that would have wiped out my savings.

The basics of financial literacy is just not spending more than you can earn, and pay back credit card on time. This is not even a case of having no money to buy food that one is desperate enough to have to use credit card. It's just a case of lack of discipline. 🤦

I didn't fall into the $500 Credit Card Trap. Probably back in my mind i am fully aware cash is still cash and credit card is some sort like a rubber band. At the end of the day you unstretch the rubber band is still the same length. I pay full everymonth, if i can't pay full means im in trouble already, alarms bells all sound already. My math is bad, so i won't try to venture into creative ideas to meddle with credit cards stunts.
